Applicants outside the Public Service are eligible for appointment to the Administrative and Professional Divisions, but are not eligible for appointment to Clerical or General Division vacancies unless they were in the service of a State on 1st January, 1901, or have retired from the service of the Commonwealth or of a State.

Applicants who are officers of the Public Service of a State should state the date of their appointment to the service, present position, and salary.

Applicants from outside the service should state their qualifications for the office they seek. Collies only of diplomas, references, testimonials, or certificates should he forwarded. if the originals are required they will be asked for.

Date and year of birth should be stated, and applications must be in applicants' hand-writing.

Apptications should be addressed to the "Commonwealth Public Service Inspector" of the State in which the vacancy exists, and in the case of officers of the Commonwealth Service be forwarded through the chief officer of the department to which the applicant belongs.

Minimal: ;tad maximum salaries, where shown, indicate the limits of the class or grade in which the position is classified. Subject to the provisions of the Public Service Act, appointments may be made at any salary within those limits. BROOME MUNICIPAL COUNCIL. Resolution.

WHEREAS by Section 267 of " The Health Act, 1911-12," it is provided that the Governor may cause to be prepared Model By-laws for all or any of the purposes for which By-laws may be made by a Local Authority under the provisions of the said Act, and that a Local Authority may, of its own motion by resolution, adopt the whole or any portion of such By-laws ; and whereas Model By-laws have been prepared in accordance with the provisions of the said Section, and published in the Government Gazette on the 20th day of November, 1914: Now, therefore, it is resolved and deter-mined by the Municipal Council of Broome, being a Local Health Authority within the meaning of the said Act, that with the exceptions and alterations specified hereunder such Model By-laws be adopted for the District of Broome.

EXCEPTIONS.

Part 1—By.law 16—Strike out. Part 1—By-law 22—Strike out the second paragraph of

this By-law. Part 1—By-law 25a—Strike out. Part 1—By-law 26 (d)—Strike out this subsection. Part 1—By-law 34—Insert between " the " and " dis-

" The emptying and removal of such receptacles shall be conducted by the Local Authority only."

Also the following By-law to stand as By-law 25a of Part 1 :—

" The occupier of any premises from which any sani-tary service is effected shall pay to the Local Authority the charges specified in Schedule " A hereto."

Also the following= Schedule to stand as Schedule " A," By-law 25a of Part 1 :-

Charges to be paid by the occupier of any premises in respect of which any of the undermentioned services are performed :-

(a.) For the removal of each sanitary pan or urinal pan, and replacing same by a clean pan ; at per pan per removal, 9d. (Such sum shall include the removal of the con-tents of one approved rubbish bin of household refuse, once weekly, free of all charge.)

(b.) For the removal of trade refuse, at per cubic yard, 5s.

(e.) For the removal of household refuse where same shall he required in excess of the ser-vices set out in item (a) as being free of all charge, at per cubic yard, 5s.

Also the following By-law to stand as By-law 26, sub-section (d) of Part I. :—

" The provisions of this By-law shall not apply to per-sons engaged in the removal of refuse as provided by By-law 16, nor to the collection, removal, and or disPosal of nightsoil, urine, and refuse, and other offensive material by the Local Authority."

Also, the following additional subsection to By-law 35 of Part I. :—

" (i) subsections (e) and (/) shall be compulsory only in eases where required by the Local Authority."

Also the following Schedule to stand as Schedule " C (By-law 4) of Part 4 :—

Fees to be paid for license and registration in respect of the trade of a dairyMan or vendor of :— (a.) In respect of the trade of a dairyman, any

person keeping con s to the number of s. d.

State Income Tax.

NOTICE is hereby given that every person liable under the above-named Act to make any Return of Income is hereby required to make and furnish to me, on or before Thursday, the 1st day of February, 1917, an Income 'fax Return in the prescribed form of his or her income for the year ended the 31st December, 1916.

State Land Tax. Notice is further hereby given that every person who

was, on the 31st December, 1916, the owner within the meaning of the said Act of any land whatsoever in Western Australia, and who is liable to Land Tax, is hereby required to make and furnish to me, on or before Thursday, the 1st day of February, 1917, a Land Tax Return in the prescribed form.

Penalty for not furnishing Return, £20.

Penalty for making false Return, £100 and Treble Tax.

Note.—Taxpayers may obtain Return Forms at the State Taxation Department, 605 Wellington Street, Perth ; at the principal Land Offices (except Perth) ; at the principal Treasury Offices (except Perth); and at Police Stations in the Suburbs of Perth and at other places.

Forms will be posted to Taxpayers if a stamped ad-dressed envelope is forwarded to the State Commissioner of Taxation, Perth.

All letters, packets, etc., must be addressed to "The State Commissioner of Taxation, Perth," and must have tull postage affixed. Short postage will be charged to Taxpayers.

AMENDED ROCKINGITAM COMMONAGE BY-LAW. TAKE notice that Clause 4 of the above By-laws has been amended as from the 1st January, 1917, to read as follows:-

4. No bona, fide resident, ratepayer of, or property owner within the 'Rockingham District Road Board shall depasture or permit or suffer any great cattle to be de. pastured or to be or remain in, on, or upon any reserve or common or part thereof situate within the District of the Board or over which the Board shall have control, without having first obtained a license from the Board permitting him so to do and paying the fees chargeable thereon. The fees to be paid by any person to the Board for such license shall be Two shillings per head up to and inclusive of thirty bead for every horse, Mare, gelding, colt, filly, ass, mule, per year or part of a year, and One shilling and sixpence per head up to and in-clusive of -fifty head for every bull, ox, cow, heifer, calf, deer, and foal per year or part of a year. In excess 0-r the numbers mentioned, the fees payable shall be Two shillings per head per week, in respect of all great cattle.

alterations and additions set out in the Second Schedule hereto to the By-laws for regulating Motor Traffic and Standard Lights for all vehicles, published in the Gov-einment Gazette of the 15th October, 1915, were duly made by the Mayors and Councillors of the several Municipalities mentioned in the First Schedule hereto, and that such alterations and additions were confirmed by Ills Excellency the Governor in Executive Council on the dates mentioned in the third column of the First Schedule hereto, such alterations and additions being duly made and passed by the Mayors and Councillors of the said several Municipalities under Section 179 of "The Municipal Corporations Act, 1906,'' and in pur-suance of the powers conferred by the said Act and sealed with the Common Seal of the said Municipalities respectively.
