MANISTEE Students from TrinityLutheran School in Manistee joinedLutheran schools all over the world lastweek in celebrating Lutheran SchoolsWeek with a series of activities for thechildren to enjoy.
This years theme was Securing EachChilds Future: Making Disciples. Thetheme was based on a verse from thebook of John in the Bible that reads, Ifyou abide in my word, you are truly mydisciples, and you will know the truth, andthe truth will set you free.
Daily themes were set around thatmain theme, and the students at Trinitycelebrated in different ways not onlyamong themselves, but with studentsfrom other schools. One day was spenthaving fun with lunch and roller skatingat Johnnys of Custer with students fromTrinity Reed City.
The Missouri Synod, of which TrinityLutheran of Manistee is a part, operatesthe largest Protestant system of schoolsin the world. Over a quarter million chil-dren attend more than 2,400 early child-hood centers, elementary and secondaryschools operated by Lutheran ChurchMissouri Synod all over the world.
Lutheran schools have six commonthemes they follow in the education pro-cess. They include:

Wednesday was pin/buttonay, and that brought out somenique and unusual additions tohe students apparel. Studentsere encouraged to wear as

Friday saw everyone get thehance to wear the sports attiref their favorite team. The week-nd capped off with a theme onaturday of Enjoying Fun atome and Sunday with one of
Serve the Lord With Gladness.Other activities that took

6) Click Submit7) Now Big on Your Chosen Item or Items8) You now have a user name and password, and wont
have to put in your information again. You can just getright to bidding!
Determine the maximum amount you arewilling to pay for the item you are bid-ding on. Record the amount on the Of-fi cial Bid form as your Maximum SecretBid. Be sure to enter the item number anddescription of the item you are bidding
on as well. Your Maximum Secret bidmay not necessarily be the price you payif you are the successful bidder (you maypay less, never more). However, choosea maximum carefully as you wont beable to reduce it later and youll be le-gally bound to pay that price if it is thewinning bid.
If you are bidding on-line, fi ll out yourname in full, address, age, email ad-dress and your home and work phonenumbers in the appropriate fi elds. Afteryou have become a registered bidder, follow the on-line instructions. If bidding

GOOD LUCK
WHY A MAXIMUM SECRET BID?Because Auction Mania is not a live auction, you can-
not react instantly to someone bidding against you onthe same items. For this reason we are using a systemcalled PROXY BIDDING. Under Proxy Bidding, you tellour Auction Trust Committee the most you are willing topay for an item. This is your maximum Secret Bid andis known only by you and the Auction Trust Committee. The Committee then PLACES A BID ON YOUR BEHALFat the LOWEST POSSIBLE to make you the high bidderfor the item. If you are outbid, the Auction Trust will upyour bid by set dollar increments until you are againthe higher bidder or until your maximum Secret Bid isreached. YOUR BID WILL NOT EXCEED YOUR MAXI-MUM SECRET BID UNLESS YOU SUBMIT ANOTHERFORM WITH A HIGHER MAXIMUM. Should you chooseto pursue the purchase of the item by using a MaximumSecret Bid, you save yourself the trouble of having tosubmit another form when somebody outbids you. As aresult, you reduce the chances of being outbid at the lastminute before the auction ends.
EXAMPLES OF PROXY BIDDING1) Bidding for an item starts at, for example, $500
2) Bidder A determines that he is willing to pay
$750 for that item and therefore submits a MAXIMUM
SECRET BID of $750 for the item.
3) The AUCTION TRUST COMMITTEE enters a bid
of $500 (the opening bid) on behalf of bidder A,
which is the minimum needed to make bidder A the
highest bidder.
4) You determine that you are willing to pay $1,000
for the same item, therefore you submit a MAXIMUM
SECRET BID of $1,000 for that item.
5) The AUCTION TRUST COMMITTEE enters a bid
for $760 on your behalf, which is the minimum
amount needed to make you the highest bidder.
6) The auction ends.
7) You are the winner. You purchase the item for
$760, plus applicable taxes.
