Publisher’s letter:Dear West Meadows residents,

I believe every year we say, “I can’t believe it’s almost Christmas”, but this year really flew by. There have been many changes, new developments and new additions over the last year. Growth and progress is showing in the community. I do hope the road and landscaping, out front, is completely done by January 1st. That would be progress!

Inside there is the Christmas picture coloring contest page. The top three best pictures will be printed in the February issue and the first prize will be a $25 gift card to Toys R Us. The card will be given on or before December 22. To send in entries mail to: West Meadows News, 27551 Cashford Cir. #102, Wesley Chapel, FL

It all started 15 years ago when Jackie tuozzo, owner of Charles Jewelers, started cashing in her inheritance money to buy inventory for her jewelry store. Jackie

feels that one of her greatest accomplishments has been opening a jewelry store “from scratch” and staying in business for 15 years. Jackie has built the business with her sister Jennifer Boscan . together the womenhavehand-pickedeverypiece of jewelry for the store. How does a jewelry store stay in business when gold gets to be so high priced? a big trend started about 4 years ago when

women started selling their old and outdated gold to buy more updated pieces. “Women are always going to buy jewelry,” says Jackie. “I learned that lesson when my anchor store,

to a youth aeronautical education event called Wings-n-things in Lakeland.several boys and their siblings, ages 8 and up, who have never flown in a small plane before, took a "First

the pumpkins weresmaller this year but thecrowd was no less enthusiastic.Joshua House is a haven for

abused and battered children who are learning to trust adultsagain. this is the third year for this event let by Bill Holster who secured the pumpkins and organized the event. the joy is evident on thechildren’s faces as they sculpt their very own creation. some of these children have never carved a pumpkin before. there is also a sense of pride and accomplishment, something that we take for granted, but for them this is a rare opportunity. this year we had volunteers from the New tampa Community Club whose members were there to help out. Rick Crouse, president of the club said, “We had a great time. It is not often you get an opportunity to touch the heart of a child who has had so much sorrow in their life.” Based on this year’s success, pumpkin carving at Joshua House will certainly be on the must do listnext year.
