Hope everyone is enjoying their summer. It’s been busy for Cindy and I. This weekend we are sending our youngest son off to college to ASU. It’s both exciting and sorrowful. We’ve had the pleasure of watching him grow up to become an awesome young man. We could not be more happier with what he’s done with his life so far.

August means summer is coming to an end and with that college football season begins.

We have 6 more events coming up with the next one in Mission Bay. Look for the invite coming soon.

Ahoy WCYC Members,

Hard to believe that we are more than half way through our cruising season...maybe be-cause I am getting older, time really does fly!

We had 5 boats on the cruise to Two Harbors last month, and I want to say thanks to eve-ryone who attended and pitched in to help me with “Island Time.” The “pirate punch” from Stressless sure hit the mark, and David and Monique’s shakedown cruise seemed to go off without a hitch. A typically energetic dinner at the Harbor Reef Restaurant on Sat-urday night went well, even though David did not buy drinks for the crew…raincheck Da-vid…and we even had the banner!

August’s cruise is scheduled for Mission Bay, with KC and Jill as Cruise Captains. This is a wonderful cruise, and I hope we have good attendance, although I do understand it is tough for many members. I will be unable to attend, but the cruise will be in good hands with KC and Jill. I would like to hear back from the membership about this cruise, as it has been lightly attended over the past few years, and I want to discuss perhaps eliminat-ing this one in favor of a Danalina or other location so more boats attend. Please email me with your thoughts (jwmcnamara5@gmail.com).

We have a conflict on the schedule: we have a permit for Danalina August 13 and 14, and we have the Charity Pub Crawl on the same date. I will be out of town, but if anyone wants to do Danalina, I will give you the permit. Please let me know as soon as possible so I can either provide the permit or cancel it with the county.

Finally, it seems that the “new boat disease” continues to run through our club…we have three or four in the past 18 months! Congratulations of course to David and Monique, and now congratulations are due to Scuba Steve and Brenda VandenBerg on their new 42 Cat-alina. Looking forward to seeing her cruising the Pacific…

Paddle Board Poker Run and Dock Party, 9/4

WCYC– The Best Kept Secret in the Harbor! Our next dock party will be on Sunday, September 4th. We want to make this an Open House type event with a Paddle Board Poker Run and dock party. Everyone is encouraged to bring family and friends. This will be a free event. We only ask that the members bring a main dish, side dish, salad or appetizer to share. Look for the invite in an email coming soon.

NEXT CLUB EVENT

Mission Bay Raft Up- K.C. Wilson and Jill Nau are your cruise captains for this event.

General Plan:

KC and Jill will arrive on Thursday.

Friday arrive and raft up in Mission Bay

Friday night we will host a get together aboard SunChaser, bring something to share and your own liquid. We will have ice for those who need it. Evening to last until 10:00 so KC can get to bed.

Saturday we will be having our BBQ on the Beach and early evening. We look for boaters to be on shore at 3:30 and start the BBQs at 4:45. Bring your own meat to cook and something for the salad. While waiting for BBQ starting we will have some munchie sup-plied by Jill/KC and dessert for those who eat a good dinner.

Sunday we have to head home since many of us have jobs and need to make a living now that we are a younger group.

Activity Information will be passed out as boats arrive on Friday. If you are coming early let us know.

Prospective members are required to attend two events and be introduced at that time by their sponsors or

a Club Officer. The Membership Chairperson’s recommendation, the signatures of two sponsoring

Club Members and all dues will be presented to the Board of Directors at their next scheduled meeting.

Current dues are $150 annually plus a one time initiation fee of $50.
