Any halibut that comes up from a hundred feet below will be a battle that you will not soon forget. The bigger fish are very strong fish; and if you land one of greater size you’ll wind up both victorious and well worn out. For many anglers, the Coho represents the main reason why fishing Kyuquot is well worth their time. The reputation for silver salmon fishing is legendary in Kyuquot Sound and the surrounding waters. King or Chinook salmon are among the most coveted game fish caught on our fishing charters. The king salmon is also one of the most important sport fish on the

Pacific coast. It is the largest Pacific salmon, commonly exceeding 30 pounds.

The boat is 27 feet long and nearly 9 feet

wide and was certified to Transport

Canada Standards, and continues to meet

all Transport Canada standards.

The trolling setup includes an

independent, custom hydraulic stern

helm, which controls a Yamaha 9.9 HP

high thrust outboard. This allows your

guide to have complete access to the two

Scotty downriggers and gear while

operating the vessel.

The boat is equipped with an on-board

toilet and sink, and also seats four

passengers very comfortably. The

electronics include 2 DSC VHF

radios, Lowrance 12" GPS/Sounder/Chart

plotter, Sirius Satellite stereo, and

the Yamaha Smart-Craft display. We also

have a Webasto 5500 diesel heater for those

cold days.

Our fishing gear includes manufacturers

like Scotty Downriggers, Shimano, Islander

Reels, 10'6" Shimano rods, Braided Line and

Gamakatsu hooks. Although the nature of

fishing means sometimes the fish get away,

we believe that should not happen due to

faulty or poor quality equipment, and we

use only the finest quality tackle on the

market.

Your Catch.

We recommend that each guest bring one 150-quart cooler to pack fish home. If you are flying and would like to bring your fish home with you, please check with your commercial airlines policy regarding transporting fish.

Fishing Storie Charters will carefully clean, bag and tag your catch of the day. Fish are left whole for processing and cross border traveling. Halibut, lingcod and red snapper can be fileted with certain identification marketing left with the fish. Fish is stored on ice for the duration of your stay. Ice is provided for transporting fish home.

Fish processing options are plentiful once you get to Campbell River. Campbell River Seafood’s, High Tide Seafood’s and St. Jeans are available. Direct shipping is available through St. Jeans Cannery.

Getting to Kyuquot.

By Land: The Turnoff on the Island Highway (Highway 19) to Fair Harbour is located just north of Woss, The 40 km gravel logging road is well-maintained and continues for 33 kilometers beyond Zeballos to Fair Harbour. Look For the Zeballos Junction and turn Left off of Highway 19.

By Sea:BC Ferries has scheduled departures from Horseshoe Bay to Nanaimo and Duke Point.. Estimated driving time from Nanaimo to Fair Harbour is about 5 hours.

By Air: Their are chartered flights to Fair Harbour at Nootka Air in Gold River about an hour and a half drive west of Campbell River.
