First cousins Rae and Zeb of Praez Occasions began their business in the most unlikely way: by accident. The two had created a newsletter for their church. Rae, a former executive assistant for the local Chamber of Commerce, had acquired a sense of style by taking part in many business functions, whi le Zeb drew inspi rat ion f rom her background as a finance executive and radio host. Together the two created a newsletter to inform congregants about local, state, and international assemblies. They liked working as a team so much that they began a small multimedia graphics and printing company in New Haven, Connecticut. Soon, clients began requesting invitations and customized stationery from the pair. Realizing they had found their niche, Rae and Zeb founded Praez Occasions.
Today, Praez Occasions creates beautiful couture invitations and stationery with unconventional flair and sophistication. They have come a long way since the beginning, but no matter how successful they become, neither will ever forget the little church newsletter that helped lead them to where they are today.

{Party Time} Members of the wedding party must attend show-ers, the rehearsal dinner, and other pre-wedding parties when feasible.
Unless your attendants all live nearby, someone will be traveling. Try scheduling more than one event over a single weekend when possible. For example, throw a bach-elorette party or bridesmaid’s luncheon on a Saturday and a shower the next day.
{Gift Giving} Attendants will end up presenting several gifts to the bride and groom. Traditionally, there is a wedding gift, an
attendants’ gift, a shower gift… it can seem overwhelming. Let them know that you consider their participation itself to be their wedding gift to you. If more than one shower is proposed, ask the host to think about themes that don’t require a cash outlay for a gift, such as a recipe shower. Events like that are a welcome change of pace and encourage attendants to be extra creative and thoughtful when putting together gifts.
{Wedding To-Do’s} Your team will be asked to assist you whenever possible and be atten-tive to guests at the reception. They
will do their utmost to help you carry out your wedding plans, but that doesn’t mean they need to cater to your every whim. Be respectful of their time and resources. Be clear about your expectations and whether you have particular assignments in mind. Set up “communication central” and be sure that all your attendants can access it. While keeping everyone in the loop is critical, bombarding them with daily posts is excessive.
{Bachelorette} If you’re dreaming of a bachelorette weekend in Las Vegas, well, that’s a group decision, too. It’s a modern myth
that the attendants must host a shower or a bachelor or bachelorette party for the bride and/or groom. Given their financial com-mitments, no bridesmaid or usher should be forced to shell out for a party that’s beyond their budget.
{It’s All in the Tux} They will have to purchase or rent their wedding attire and accessories — shoes, hats, ties, accessories —
everything they’ll wear except the flowers. Brides can make this more economical by choosing dresses that truly can be worn again and opting for hairstyles and makeup that don’t require a salon. Emily Weisbauer and Adam Gould can personally attest to the wonders of social media. Though they originally met as undergrads at the University of Massachusetts, they didn’t fi nally connect until much later. After Adam graduated, two years before Emily, the pair lost touch but never forgot about one another. Thirteen years after they had last spoken, Adam “friended” Emily on Facebook, something she was immediately excited about. “In college I was a member of his fraternity’s sister sorority, and I always thought he was cute,” she admits. The pair exchanged a few messages before meeting for their fi rst date. Both knew right away that they had found something special. A short six months later, Adam moved into Emily’s apartment, and just six months after that, they were engaged.
On one ordinary Saturday morning, Adam woke Emily up by sitting on the bed and saying simply, “Today is the day I am going to ask you to marry me,” and held out a ring to his prospective bride. Emily, still sleepy, was struggling to comprehend what was going on without the help of her glasses. “The fi rst words out of my mouth were, ‘Get me my glasses!’ so that I could see what was happening!” she says. As she slipped her glasses on her face, she was delighted to see not only that Adam was holding out a gorgeous ring and asking for her hand in marriage but also that he had scattered the fl oor of their apartment with soft rose petals and prepared a champagne breakfast for two. Of course, she accepted.
Emily and Adam wanted a wedding venue that refl ected their shared love for the outdoors as well as for fi ne wines. Bedell Cellars seemed like just the place. “As soon as we drove up to Bedell Cellars, we knew that it was exactly what we were looking for!” says Emily. “The open pavilion and apple orchard were perfect for a rustic yet elegant wedding — and the wine is amazing.” Adam’s parents had spent many summers vacationing on the North Fork, and the bride and groom both agreed that it would be fun to introduce their friends to the region for a mini-getaway. In anticipation of many out-of-town guests, the couple rented a restored boathouse in Greenport for the weekend. The house proved to be the perfect gathering spot for family and friends over the course of the weekend.
Emily embraced a very clean, chic décor strategy, drawing a lot of her inspiration from Chinese porcelain ginger jars. Splashes of blue and white were offset by hints of pale pink, with blushing fl oral arrangements nestled within blue-and-white bowls and modern,

nautical-inspired stationery. As a fun way to balance the decorations with the rustic surroundings of the winery, she bathed the entire reception in a glow of candlelight and lanterns. The result was a reception that felt intimate and romantic.
Emily and Adam’s wedding day was magnifi cently bright and sunny, and the bride and groom couldn’t have been more pleased. Their photographer surprised them with an audio booth where the guests could record happy, funny, and wishful comments for the bride and groom — a great way to recapture the spirit of the day. One of Emily’s favorite moments occurred when their band sang an a cappella rendition of “Signed, Sealed, Delivered” during the recessional. “It was an incredible and magical moment,” she says. The celebration was abundant with sweets, including Briermere’s pies, which proved to be a big hit with guests. “They were absolutely delicious and added to the relaxed atmosphere of our wedding,” Emily says.
Every last, little touch of the celebration made the day sweet and fun as it could be. It had been more than fourteen years since Emily and Adam had fi rst met, and fi nally they were married — one contract that had been signed, sealed, and delivered, indeed.

Amanda and Jason were lucky enough to go on not just one great fi rst date, but two. The pair originally met at a mutual friend’s party in New York, exchanged numbers, and went on several fun dates together before losing touch. A few years later, Amanda came across Jason’s business card in her apartment. “I thought, ‘Wow — he was a nice guy. I wonder whatever happened to him,’” she says. By an amazing coincidence, just 30 minutes later, Jason sent Amanda an instant message online. Amanda was sure it was more than just pure chance. They immediately made plans to see each other again. “We have been together ever since what we call ‘our second fi rst date,’” Amanda says.
After a few blissful years of dating, Jason told Amanda he wanted to invite his family over for a barbeque night at their New York apartment, despite the snowy conditions outside. The day had started out as a typical Saturday. The couple had gone to the gym together, had breakfast afterwards, and gone to the movies before coming home and preparing the apartment for the dinner party. In the early evening, Amanda ducked out to get a haircut, at which time Jason’s family dropped by with a very important package — a ring. “I knew she would fi nd it if it was in the apartment,” he says. When Amanda returned home, she saw Jason waiting for her, down on one knee, with the ring in his hand. Needless to say, there was no barbeque that evening. Jason had actually planned a dinner at a local restaurant — and surprised Amanda by having her family travel from Boston to celebrate.
The pair knew they wanted a sophisticated but intimate wedding, and they came to the conclusion that the Hamptons was the perfect place for such an occasion. “We have spent every summer that we’ve been together in the Hamptons, and it holds so many fond memories for us,” says Amanda. She visited the LongHouse Reserve later that winter. Despite the fact that there was snow on the ground and the surrounding trees were bare, she could easily envision her summer wedding there.
The bride and groom kept the wedding intimate by limiting their guest list to just 40 family members. Rose petals were scattered across the ground at the outdoor ceremony, in which the couple honored Jewish traditions by having the bride circle the groom seven times and the groom break a glass at the end. At the reception, in lieu of several small tables, Amanda and Jason decided to have just one long

Seated at the head of their table, so they were able to see each one of their cherished guests and really savor the evening, the newlyweds enjoyed their celebration as much as any of the attendees. “We loved how we had all our family together in a small space and you could literally feel the love in the room,” says Amanda.
Bathed in the soft light of dozens of votive candles, many cleverly hung from the ceiling, the reception overfl owed with fl oral arrangements in shades of pink, white, purple, and green. A mirror ran the length of the table, refl ecting the rosy candlelight. Surrounded by their closest loved ones, the breathtakingly romantic scene was exactly what they had wanted.
For both Amanda and Jason, the biggest surprise of the day was the amount of dancing that took place. “We were expecting that since it was a family-only wedding, people would stay in their seats more,” says Amanda. But as their wedding coordinator, Jill Gordon, told them, “People rarely get to dance, and it’s a joyous occasion, so don’t be surprised when they do!” The day was joyous indeed, and for the couple that had enjoyed two fi rst dates, their fi rst spin on the dance fl oor couldn’t have been more perfect.

Britt Crow and Thad Miller fi rst met when they ended up on the same public softball league. Though both had a blast playing, the team wasn’t very good. As Britt explains, “It was the kind that always loses but goes out for drinks afterward to celebrate.” During one particularly slow-moving game, Britt and Thad found themselves in the outfi eld together, chatting away. It wasn’t long before Britt had invited Thad to join her on a hike, which was soon to become their fi rst date. Little did she know, however, that this fi rst date would end up lasting almost 20 hours! “It started with a 10 mile hike, then lunch, then we decided to go home and meet up later for a fi lm festival and dinner that same night and, to top it all off, there just happened to be a surprise party for Thad at his own house that same night,” says Britt. The long date was all the assurance the couple needed to know they had found something very real.
Britt and Thad dated long distance for several months while Britt pursued a master’s degree at Harvard and Thad worked on his PhD at Arizona State University in Phoenix. Though they lived far apart, the couple made plenty of time for each other, visiting about every two weeks and going on lots of trips together. It was on one of these trips, to Paris, that Thad suggested they take a short stroll through a park known as Promenade plantée. Posed in the park, Britt was outstretching her arm to take a photo when Thad took the opportunity to reach into his pocket and pull out an exquisite vintage ring, dating back to 1910 and made up of a European cut round diamond in platinum surrounded by a bed of diamonds and sapphires. “He even got down on one knee, which I thought seemed unfair, so I got down too,” says Britt. Just as he asked the all-important question, church bells rang behind the couple and rain began to gently fall, creating a romantic and memorable scene neither will ever forget.
For many years, Thad’s family had owned a home in Southampton, and he and Britt had been frequent visitors over the course of their relationship. Once they began the wedding planning process, the couple decided to take a drive to the North Fork and explore some of the region’s venues. It was then that they fell in love, once more - this time, with the beauty of the North Fork. “It has such a country feel to it. The way the barns, farm stands, and grape fi elds are mixed in with the quaint towns and beaches is just so unexpected,” says Britt. They chose Martha Clara Vineyards - a venue they felt had an earthy, laid-back feel.

Britt and Thad were eager to put their own spin on wedding tradition, and started by asking both of Britt’s parents to walk her down the aisle in lieu of just her father. They also had a close friend ordained in order to perform the ceremony. The bride and groom wrote the ceremony’s script themselves before inviting other various friends to participate in different elements. “It was so special to have the people we love included in our ceremony,” says Britt.
The lively reception embraced a color palette of “tomato,” “carrot,” and “coral”, perfect hues for their rustic, farm-inspired decor. Guests enjoyed locally sourced, organic cuisine from Naturally Delicious, an eatery based in Brooklyn, as well as fun signature drinks - rosemary and cucumber gin and tonic, strawberry basil lemonade, and whiskey iced tea with mint.
Though it was a bit rainy on their wedding day, Britt and Thad did have a chance to catch a glimpse of the evening’s full moon. Dancing in each other’s arms amidst the silvery moonlight, the couple knew they couldn’t have asked for anything better.

For Amelia Stocker and Lee Mayberry, it’s not a stretch to say it was love at fi rst sight. They were both working at the same restaurant one summer, Amelia as a hostess and Lee as a server. One night, after their shifts had ended, the staff was hanging around the bar. “Amelia was sitting in the booth at the opposite end from me, and I just couldn’t take my eyes off her,” says Lee. After he crossed the room and began to talk to her, he didn’t have to wait long to fi nd out the feeling was mutual: “I don’t remember too much about the conversation, but I remember the way she looked back at me as we spoke. She looked at me the way I thought I had looked at her the day I fi rst saw her,” he says.
The two talked all night, at one point ditching the rest of the restaurant crew and strolling through the cool night air, just the two of them. “Before we knew it, the sun was coming up, and we had been talking all night — at that point, whether we were ready to admit it or not, we were head over heels in love,” says Lee.
Several years after their perfect fi rst date, the couple was strolling through their Brooklyn neighborhood, killing time before they met up with friends for dinner. Amelia, who always wore a ring Lee had given her on the ring fi nger of her left hand, was mid-stride when Lee turned to her and grabbed her hand. “I really love this ring,” he said, “but the problem is, when you wear it on this fi nger, there’s no room for this.” With that, Lee pulled out a beautiful engagement ring from his pocket. Of course, Amelia said yes.
Over the course of their relationship, Amelia and Lee had gone on annual trips to Montauk to celebrate their anniversary. By their fourth visit, both had fallen in love with the town. “We loved the foggy, quiet mornings, the freshness of the air, the maritime weather, the food, and pretty much just the smallness of the town,” says Amelia. It seemed like an easy choice for their wedding destination — neither of their families had been to Montauk before, so they felt they had discovered it together, and it had become “their place.” They settled on the Surf Lodge for their reception site.
In the midst of many foggy and windy days, the morning of Amelia and Lee’s wedding dawned sunny and clear. The wedding was small — only about 63 guests, since they both had wanted to keep the celebration limited to very close friends and family. They embraced Caribbean-inspired colors for their décor. “The colors we chose — teal and coral — are fun and remind us of the Caribbean and everything we love about it,” says Amelia.
“AT THAT POINT, WHETHER WE WERE READY TO ADMIT IT OR NOT, WE WERE HEAD OVER HEELS IN LOVE,” SAYS LEE.

Both the bride and groom were eager to incorporate personal elements into their big day. Amelia honored her grandmother, who had passed away the year before, by handing out jars of homemade mango chutney made with her recipe, while Lee’s relatives renewed a family tradition of presenting the newlywed couple with a quilt. Each guest had received a patch of fabric in the mail to decorate as they saw fi t and mail back to be sewn together.
As the evening wound down, Amelia and Lee couldn’t have been happier about the way everything had gone. More than anything, they had wanted the wedding to be a refl ection of themselves as a couple, and they were thrilled with the overall aesthetic and atmosphere: “Our guests kept saying how the whole wedding was so quintessentially ‘us’ — well, it wasn’t unintentional, and it took a lot of time and thought, but at the end of the day, it was very much worth it,” says Amelia.

Unlike most couples, Jesa and Rob have been engaged not just once, but twice. Rob had fi rst popped the question two and a half years into their relationship, under the Brooklyn Bridge. The couple wasn’t quite ready for a wedding, and kept nuptial plans at bay for several years. After spending some time apart, “we quickly realized we were the best versions of ourselves together, as a couple,” says Jesa. It wasn’t long before their relationship was back on. Over dinner one night, Jesa mentioned to Rob, “I think we should get married,” and Rob was hard pressed to hide his excitement. A few weeks later, at Jesa’s 31st birthday dinner, he presented her with a newly set engagement ring and asked her to be his wife one more time. After 10 years of dating, Jesa and Rob were once again engaged and this time they were ready to take the next step.
All of Jesa’s wedding inspiration began with a single doily. Her great grandmother, soon to be 105 years old, had made doilies her entire life and always gave them to her family as gifts. Jesa treasured hers and when she saw a photo of doilies sewn together to create a table runner, she knew that it was the perfect way for her to incorporate sentimental elements in their chic, DIY-inspired celebration. She scoured antique shops for a total of 400 vintage doilies and laid them out on the kitchen fl oor, sewing them together by hand, with the help of a friend. It was the perfect starting point for her in creating a personal wedding celebration. “We wanted all of our guests, from their diverse backgrounds and ethnicities, to see a bit more about us, our sentimental feelings about family and history, and set the overall mood of the evening to be very intimate,” Jesa says.
Black and white photos of the couple’s ancestors, dating back to the 1800’s, were placed at the reception to add to the wedding’s sentimental appeal. Instead of a guest book, the bride and groom created a “Fingerprint Tree” in which guests stamped their fi ngerprints onto the leaves of a drawing of a tree that was made to resemble the one they had been married under. At each place setting, paper place mats with word search puzzles awaited guests, each customized with special words about Jesa and Rob’s relationship.
Burlap bags stuffed with locally grown apples were given to each of the guests as favors, stamped with “Eat, Drink, and be Married”. Jesa had ordered the custom made stamp online and recruited her maid of honor to help assemble the bags.

Jesa and Rob said their vows undera chuppah they made themselves. Upon arriving at the ceremony, each of their female guests was presented with an antique handkerchief when they arrived, “In case they wanted to shed a tear or two,” says Jesa. Her bouquet was wrapped in a piece of delicate fabric salvaged from her mother’s veil, and secured with her grandmother’s antique brooch. Rob was equally as dolled up in DIY-duds, his suit having been custom made by a friend, a vintage handkerchief stuffed in his breast pocket, and antique cuffl inks that perfectly matched Jesa’s gown.
For the bride and groom, all of the DIY projects they undertook in preparation for the wedding were not only fun, but served the purpose of expressing themselves to their guests, “Remember, your guests are there to celebrate you and your wedding. Some people may be family members or friends of your parents that don’t know you very well, so share a bit about yourself and the couple you’ve become through your décor, music or food, and wine selections. They will appreciate the effort you made to make them feel at home.”

Lis White and Greg Hersch grew up two blocks from each other in New York City. They attended neighboring elementary schools, went to rival high schools, and ran in the same circles both during and after college. Strangely, though, they never met or even heard about each other until they both ended up at a mutual friend’s birthday party in the summer of 2006. Right away, Lis noticed Greg. “He had an amazing smile and was extremely engaging and interesting,” she says. After they chatted for a while, Greg asked for her number, and thus began what the couple now refer to as “hot pursuit.” “We dated, I tried to take it slow, that didn’t really work, and we just kind of fell in love with each other,” says Lis. It’s no wonder they fi t so well — both love being outdoors, traveling, listening to music, meeting new people, and being with friends. “We both kind of ‘got’ where each other came from — not just geographically but in terms of our lives, values, goals, and idiosyncrasies,” says Lis.
Lis and Greg made a custom of traveling somewhere new each August for a week-long getaway. In 2009, they chose Costa Rica, and as soon as they set foot on the airplane, Lis suspected Greg had a proposal hidden up his sleeve. “He was nervous and excited, so I knew it was going to happen,” she says. On their fi rst night, Greg took Lis for a walk along the beach, but they only made it about 15 feet before he dropped to one knee and asked her to be his wife. “It was a feeling that I can’t even describe!” says Lis. “I was crying like a baby and just felt really, really grateful for having found Greg.” The couple spent the rest of the week eating, surfi ng, exploring, and relishing in newly engaged bliss.
They both love the beach and had both grown up spending weekends in the Hamptons, Lis in East Hampton and Greg in Water Mill. So they decided to hold their wedding at the Bridgehampton Tennis and Surf Club, a venue perfectly located between their childhood homes.
Lis and Greg were raised Jewish and wanted to have a reformed ceremony that would refl ect certain traditions of Judaism, but mostly emphasize the personal spirituality they share as a couple. The pair wrote their vows themselves and put their own spin on the traditional seven blessings by choosing sentiments from different faiths and having various friends and family members read them. Inspired by a past trip to Morocco, Lis embraced bright, bold colors and textures into her décor, including succulents and luminous lanterns.

Lis and Greg both love music and spent a lot of time working with their band to decide what music to include in the wedding. Lis walked down the aisle to a Coldplay song, and Greg to the Grateful Dead, but their dog Tyler truly stole the show by walking down the aisle fi rst, accompanied by Taylor Swift’s “Love Story” — a tough act to follow.
When Lis looks back on the day, she can’t help remembering her favorite moment, which came during cocktail hour. She had been feeling a bit tense at the overwhelming idea of greeting everyone in attendance, and Greg noticed her anxiety right away. As guests nibbled on the fi rst course, the band began to play “Drift Away”, and Greg took the opportunity to ask his bride to dance. “We danced together while everyone else was eating, and I’m not even sure they noticed,” Lis says. “All I knew was that it was our moment, and I just felt so happy, dancing with my husband.” That moment was all Lis needed to relax, enjoy, and celebrate the fact that she had married her true love.

When Maya and Brian explain how they met, they always like to say, “We met in the most romantic of all places — a New York City bar.” In 1999, Maya had moved from Germany to New York City for college. She soon began working as a bartender at an Upper East Side bar called Trilogy, which both Maya and Brian sarcastically describe as “an institution well known for intellectual musings and its crème brulée.” It wasn’t the most sophisticated place, but it was responsible for bringing them together. One evening in 2003, Brian sidled up to the bar with a date while Maya was working and found himself awestruck by her beauty and luminous smile. After some respectful fl irting with Maya while his date was in the bathroom, Brian received a pointed education on the different pronunciations of “Mia” and “Maya.” It proved to be a useful lesson, since the two fell in love and never looked back.
In November of 2008, the couple traveled to Germany to visit Maya’s mother. On the last morning of the trip, Brian suggested Maya join him for a walk up a grassy hilltop she had always loved as a child. Underneath an old tree, surrounded by cows, Brian dropped to one knee and proposed. “It took me a few seconds to realize what was happening,” says Maya, who was deeply touched that Brian had planned his proposal to coincide with her trip home. Living so far away from her family, it was important to her that she could share the news with her mom in person.
After living together in New York City, Maya and Brian decided to move to Eastern Long Island. Brian had grown up there, and both loved the peace and tranquility of the region. They also agreed it would be great for their wedding — Brian’s family lives in the area, and many of Maya’s guests could fl y directly from various parts of Europe to JFK Airport. Because they both wanted an outdoor wedding and share an enthusiasm for wine, Bedell Cellars, in Cutchogue, seemed ideal. “We fell in love with Bedell’s ‘modern farm’ architecture and the people that work there,” says Maya.
They chose playful and bright décor for the indoor reception, with yellow as the main color. Funky chalk boards identifi ed each tableand simple mason jars covered in rustic burlap fabric, fi lled with candy and adorned with vibrant yellow ribbons, acted as favors.
Maya and Brian tried to steer clear of formal wedding traditions, preferring a more relaxed celebration. Instead of a sit-down dinner, the couple worked with their caterers to offer an array of decadent

hors d’oeuvres and station-style offerings. Not only was the food delicious but it also honored Maya’s German heritage and Brian’s Ukrainian and Polish background. Guests enjoyed everything from schnitzel with browned butter and caperberry to potato pierogis. To pay homage to Long Island, grilled striped bass, sweet corn salad with smoked tomatoes, and French beans were also served.
Their wedding day turned out to be clear and sunny, which made the bridesmaids’ dresses and the many yellow design elements even more vibrant. The bride and groom were married in the shade of a majestic old tree underneath yellow ribbons that blew lazily in the summer breeze. The wedding was made even more special for them by the presence of their son, 8-month-old Maximus, decked out in a tiny hat and polka-dot yellow tie, who had a bird’s eye of the ceremony from Maya’s sister’s arm, bridesmaid Julia.
As the sun set over the vineyard and the last bit of sunshine shone through the windows, bathing everyone and everything in a rosy glow, Maya and Brian knew they had come a long way from the dive bars of New York City.

When Amanda Ingersoll and Andy Rothman fi rst met, both were working at CBS News, Amanda as an intern and Andy as a producer. Andy was assigned to help Amanda and her team create a winning Evening News–style piece in competition with other teams, but neither had any idea that what they would end up creating instead was a love story.
After winning the competition for best news piece, Amanda and her fellow interns bought Andy a gift certifi cate to a local restaurant to thank him for his help. Andy kindly invited the group to join him at the restaurant, but by that time most of the interns had already left town after fi nishing their stint at CBS. Amanda, however, was living in Manhattan and gladly took Andy up on his invitation. The pair hit it off at dinner, talking for hours before happily walking 70 blocks home together — in the rain. It was all the convincing either one of them needed, and soon they were inseparable.
Four short years later, Andy told Amanda to keep her Friday night free — they were going on a date. They met in front of the main entrance of 30 Rockefeller Plaza, the famous “30 Rock,” since Amanda works at NBC, and went upstairs to the Top of the Rock observation deck to watch the sunset together. Leading her to the edge of the building, overlooking the twinkling city lights, Andy told Amanda he had something for her. “He opened a velvet box, but didn’t get down on one knee, which I still pick on him about,” says Amanda, “and asked if I would marry him.” The couple had recently seen the fi lm The Time Traveler’s Wife, in which there is a proposal scene where the main character takes a long pause before answering with a jubilant “yes!” “I thought it might be funny to do the same thing,” says Amanda. “For future reference, it’s not funny when you do it in real life — he still picks on me about that.”
Andy owns a home in East Hampton, and Amanda had often accompanied him there. As she fell in love with Andy, she also fell in love with the East End. When they got engaged, they knew they had two choices for a wedding: City Hall and lunch in Chinatown, or a big party in a stunning setting. Ultimately the big party won, and the couple embarked on planning a wedding at Fireplace Farm in East Hampton.
After almost a month of record-breaking high temperatures, the couple’s wedding day dawned warm, sunny, and perfect. Their laid-back soirée was rich with festive summer colors. Present at the

celebration was Andy’s vintage 1968 Mustang Convertible, and Amanda chose an assortment of antique vessels for fl owers, adding some additional vintage fl air. They also named each of the tables after their favorite local beaches and chose stones gathered nearby for their guests’ place cards. Tragically, Andy’s mother was unable to attend the ceremony after being diagnosed with cancer just a few weeks prior, so Andy, always the television producer, arranged to broadcast the ceremony online for her. One of their favorite memories of the day came when their friend Steve, who rented land on Fireplace Farm, suggested they take a few minutes in the morning to plant some seeds. “We switched gears from planning to planting for a few precious moments,” says Amanda, who saw the planting as a symbol of their putting down their own roots as a couple.
That evening, after the vows, dinner, and cake, their guests danced under a starlit summer sky. As the evening wound down and Amanda and Andy shared a quiet dance, they knew that a new chapter in their love story was just beginning.

out on big farm tables with bold, fl oral cloths, uplit green and blue fabric adorned the tent poles, and Kelly had a fabulous bridal bouquet that incorporated beautiful spring blooms, shamrock accents, a locket with her father’s photo, and her grandmother’s prayer book. “A bit of a challenge in bouquet construction, but that is why you hire a professional fl oral designer!” says Kim.
Corinne’s wedding came next, taking place at an upscale restaurant overlooking the Sag Harbor waterfront. Kim accented the outdoor deck of the venue with twinkling string lights for a dazzling nighttime atmosphere. Stunning white orchids awaited guests indoors, while white dendrobium orchid centerpieces completed the sophisticated look. “Corinne’s wedding was understated elegance at its best and matched the bride’s no-fuss yet warm demeanor,” says Kim.
Susie’s celebration took place at her grandparent's estate on Shelter Island. Her flowers were bountiful bouquets and centerpieces of wide-open soft yellow and pale pink roses set in shiny silver vases on crisp white linens, creating a chic summer scene inside the tent. Following the retro theme, Susie’s bridesmaids wore pale pink bell-skirted dresses reminiscent of early 1960s glamour, adding a cheeky and stylish effect to the day. Susie carried an exact replica of the rose and stephanotis bouquet her mother had carried, and her husband wore a tuxedo in a style similar to Susie’s father’s.
Despite their differences, the three weddings were equally stunning. Kim, the common thread, was happy to be part of such a special bond between three childhood friends lucky enough to celebrate their weddings together.
