Who, aſter all, would wish to be regarded as mean or ght-fisted? But, how is generosity meas- ured? Is one person more generous than another because they give away more? Jesus had something to say about generosity when he commented on the acons of a widow in the temple courts. He saw that she gave only two small- denominaon coins: I tell you the truth, this poor widow has put more into the treasury than all the others. They all gave out of their wealth; but she, out of her poverty, put in everything - all she had to live on.(Mark 12 vs. 43-44). Im not suggesng that in order to be generous we are called to give away all we have to live on. However, when we make giſts to God, whether that is of money, me or skills, do we give just our leſt-overs, or do we give God first refusal? Generosity is not a maer of absolute amounts rather of proporon. The widow Jesus observed had very lile, but her generosity was massive. Welcome to Wellington Methodist Church! At the top of New Street, the church seeks to serve town and people and offers good news for all. If you are here for the first time or just visiting the area you are welcome. Please feel at home and if you would like to know more about the work of the Church please ask, or fill in one of the contact leaflet sheets to join the mailing/email list. Do stay and join us for tea and coffee after the service.

Dear friends, Most of us like to think of ourselves as being generous people. Who, after all, would wish to be regarded as mean or tight-fisted? But, how is generosity meas-ured? Is one person more generous than another because they give away more? Jesus had something to say about generosity when he commented on the actions of a widow in the temple courts. He saw that she gave only two small-denomination coins: “I tell you the truth, this poor widow has put more into the treasury than all the others. They all gave out of their wealth; but she, out of her poverty, put in everything - all she had to live on.” (Mark 12 vs. 43-44). I’m not suggesting that in order to be generous we are called to give away all we have to live on. However, when we make gifts to God, whether that is of money, time or skills, do we give just our left-overs, or do we give God first refusal? Generosity is not a matter of absolute amounts rather of proportion. The widow Jesus observed had very little, but her generosity was massive.

Many blessings

Diane

This involves setting up simple stations in either a church or a school and then being responsible for one of the stations, either on your own or with anoth-er volunteer. Primary School children come in classes to the Experience and you would talk to a group of 6 - 8 children at a time about your station using a prompt sheet which will contain all the information you need. Help with refreshments or pre-paring props is also needed. WEEKDAY PROGRAMME

Cards For many years now I have made a selection of cards for sale at church. I originally started doing this for the building fund but then gave any money raised to other funds which the church supports such as JMA and World Mission. Over the years this has raised more than £6000. I still have a good selection of cards available, please have a look and support the stall. Thank you, Barbara Murray. Poppy Appeal If you took part last year and want to start early, please think about either knitting or making felt poppies. This year we are hoping to extend the red cascade and make a new purple one. If you want to become a new “poppy maker” see Tina or a member of the banner group for details.
