Welcoming the 2019-2023 Downtown Brampton BIA Board of DirectorsThe Downtown Brampton BIA (DBBIA) held their annual general meeting back on Wednesday May 29, 2019, whereby, the DBBIA also held the 2019-2023 board election. The DBBIA board of directors are voted in from the membership and then formally approved by the City of Brampton to serve the downtown business community.
The 2019-2023 Downtown Brampton BIA board of directors and positions include:
• Chair - Kristina Romasco, Dolcezza Custom Cakes• Vice Chair - Peeyush Gupta, The Wee Smoke Shop• Secretary - Rick Evans, CCV Insurance & Financial • Beautification & Safety Co-chairs - Grettel Comas, Baci Gift’s & Rick Evans – CCV Insurance• Downtown Projects Co-chairs - Rick Evans, CCV Insurance & Horacio Herrera, Segovia Coffee Co.• Marketing & Events Co-chair - Joe Asensio, JN Realty & Emma O'Malley, Restyle Beauty Boutique• Director at large - Adriel Domingue, Superior Shea Butter Blends • Director at large - Regan Hayward, Beaux Arts Brampton• Director at large - Carrie Percival, Brampton Academy of Martial Arts
In addition to these ten (10) elected positions the City of Brampton has appointed
• Regional Councillor Martin Medeiros• Regional Councillor Rowena Santos
The board of directors will hold a four (4) year term and meet on a monthly basis to manage the activities, policies and overall affairs of the DBBIA.

BEAUTIFICATION & SAFETY IN DOWNTOWN BRAMPTON
The Downtown Brampton BIA (DBBIA) Beautification & Safety Team has been very active this past summer in response to a number downtown business inquiries, and concerns.
At this time, the DBBIA is currently reviewing the following projects with regards to safety and beautification: • Downtown Brampton BIA Clean & Safe Streets Initiative • Membership Communications Strategy - See Report it! Below• Consideration of Private Security for Downtown Brampton (possible pilot project)• Additional surveillance cameras in the both public & private spaces of the downtown core• More police presence in the downtown core • Peel Regional Police office in the downtown• Community Services Audit for the Downtown Brampton Area• Downtown Brampton Safe Streets Ambassador Program
MONTHLY BEAUTIFICATION & SAFETY MEETINGS:
The DBBIA Beautification & Safety Team will be hosting regular monthly meetings in September, October and November on the first Thursday of each month from 9 – 10:30 a.m. at the Downtown Brampton BIA office. If you and/or your staff would like to be involved please email Teagan at [email protected].
Reporting issues in the downtown core helps all of us!
Please see below a copy of the DBBIA’s Report it! Report it! has also been included in the DBBIA’s fall newsletter as an insert, which is an internal communications piece for your business. Be sure to post this in an area of your store/business that all staff can access. You may also want to review Report it! with your staff to better understand the different types of reports that can be made to Peel Regional Police (emergency/non-emergency) and to the City of Brampton via emailing or calling 3-1-1. In addition to this, the DBBIA recommends that all businesses reach out to Superintendent Sean McKenna at 22 Division - Peel Regional Police for any additional safety concerns in the downtown core. LADIES NIGHT OUTWednesday - September 25th, 2019, 5-9PM
Join in on all the fun at Ladies Night Out on Wednesday, September 25th from 5-9PM. Ladies Night Out is a great opportunity for downtown Brampton retailers and restaurants to offer a special promotion/in-store experience to participating ladies. The Downtown Brampton BIA’s annual Trick or Treating event is
just around the corner. Trick or Treating is one of our best events
that bring so many families to the downtown, don’t forget to
prepare early! A helpful tip is to start purchasing a bag of candy a
week to begin stocking up early. Trick or Treating is a great way for
families to walk in and discover your business and establish new
relationships. The event will take place on Saturday, October 26th
from 11am-1pm. For more details and to be part of the Trick or

TASTE OF BRAMPTONOctober 15th-29th, 2019
The Taste of Brampton is back for another year of delicious culinary promotions. Downtown food businesses are invited to be part of this two-week culinary promotional period.
