One: God's imagination runs wild throughout the earth All: in the blues of the sky and sea, the smell of summer rain, the taste of ripened fruit, and

the sound of thunder rumbling in the distance. One: God touched our flesh and blood world in Jesus our Christ All: who walked our earth and blessed it, saw our hunger and fed us, touched our wounds

and healed them, heard our cries and comforted us. One: The Spirit of God fills us like breath, All: inspiring the eloquence of the poet, the vision of the inventor, the tenacity of the

survivor, and the generosity of the giver. One: We are blessed by the many facets of God's presence. Let us pray...

Psalm 29:1-4, 9 Galuska/Truax

Ascribe to the Lord, O heavenly beings, ascribe to the Lord glory and strength. Ascribe to the Lord the glory of God's name; worship the Lord in holy splendor.

The voice of the Lord is over the waters; the God of glory thunders, the Lord, over mighty waters. The voice of the Lord is powerful; the voice of the Lord is full of majesty. The voice of the Lord causes the oaks to whirl, and strips the forest bare;

and in God's temple all say, "Glory!"

A Reading from Ephesians Rev. Joshua J. Longbottom-8:30 Rev. Elizabeth B. Johnson-10:15

One: In the New Testament we hear of God’s immeasurable power at work in Christ Jesus. All: We listen to have the eyes of our hearts enlightened.

Ephesians 1:15-23 I have heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love toward all the saints, and for this reason I do not cease to give thanks for you as I remember you in my prayers. I pray that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give you a spirit of wisdom and revelation as you come to know him, so that, with the eyes of your heart enlightened, you may know what is the hope to which he has called you, what are the riches of his glorious inheritance among the saints, and what is the immeasurable greatness of his power for us who believe, according to the working of his great power. God put this power to work in Christ when he raised him from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly places, far above all rule and authority and power and dominion, and above every name that is named, not only in this age but also in the age to come. And he has put all things under his feet and has made him the head over all things for the church, which is his body, the fullness of him who fills all in all.

Response

One: Hear what the Spirit is saying to the church. All: God’s Word calls us to be people of hope.

Gloria tibi Trinitas aequalis una Deitas.

Lord, who hast formed me out of mud, And hast redeemed me through thy blood, And sanctified me to do good.

Purge all my sins done heretofore: For I confess my heavy score, And I will strive to sin no more.

Enrich my heart, mouth, hands in me, With faith, with hope, with charity; That I may run, rise, rest with thee.

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.

For Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory forever. Amen

On this Trinity Sunday, we wish you a peaceful and blessed Memorial Day.

This weekend we remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country.

"Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one's life for one's friends." John 15:13

Next Sunday, June 6: The sermon titled, "The Lord God Planted a Garden" based on Genesis 1:20-31 will be given by Rev. Joshua J. Longbottom in both worship services.

Ways to Join Us: Chapel Worship: 8:30 a.m. In-person in Grace Chapel.

"Elements of Faith" Summer Preaching Series: It is easy to see the wonder of God's creation all around us and during the summer months we hope to deepen our appreciation of the incredible design, organization, and the creativeness of God. By delving into the elements that make up our world, we offer an opportunity to celebrate the power, wisdom, order, and ingenuity of our Creator. Join us this summer as we cultivate our understanding of the earth, fire, water, wind, light, and stars.

Jazz Vespers: A Contemporary Riff on an Ancient Prayer Service. Jazz Vespers began in New York City in the 1960s as a concept worship service and outreach ministry It was designed as a service of prayer and jazz for folks who couldn't make it to Sunday morning services after playing late night gigs on Saturday night.

In this tradition, our jazz vespers service is an eclectic mix of prayer, spoken verse, ambient art, and live jazz. Through these elements, we walk through an ancient service of prayer (vespers) in a creative, informal, and multisensory way. Please join us this summer for worship on select Sunday evenings at 7:00 p.m. in the church courtyard.

C2 Worship: Join us for a sneak-peek service on Sunday, July 11 at 10:30 a.m. in Community Hall. C2 will return to Sunday worship beginning September 12 at 10:30 a.m.

Ministry Team Update

Rev. Joshua J. Longbottom will be away for the summer as he and his wife Christina welcome their new baby Lucy, who is expected on June 24. He will return to ministry here at Community Church on August 15.

Please pray for the ministry team and one another as we take time for vacations and Sabbath rest in the summer months, as we also pray for each of you.

Cover Art Concept: Words from the Artist: "...The idea behind the painting is to present the concept of the Blessed Trinity, graphically using the metaphor of the primary colors and primary shapes to represent the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

God the Father is yellow, the warmest and brightest of the primary colors. The triangle symbolizes perfection, thought, and creative power.

Jesus, God the Son, is red to symbolize his martyrdom. Red is the color of love, courage and human passion. It symbolizes the humanity of Jesus through the blood that ran through his mortal body. Likewise the square is the symbol for the earth, the domain of humanity.

The Holy Spirit is symbolized by the cool fluidity of blue. The circle symbolizes relaxation and smooth motion. It represents the guidance, inspiration and grace that we receive from the Holy Spirit.

I have also worked with the composition to give it a feel of depth with the blue circle moving closer to the viewer and the yellow triangle moving to the background. "
