Welcome to Werneth

We are holding our ‘Transition Day’ and would like to invite all the Year 6 students from our feeder primaries.

DATE: Saturday 22nd June 2019

TIME: 9.00am – 12.15pm (drink provided)

VENUE: Werneth School – Student entrance

We hope this will be a fantastic opportunity for all your children to:

• meet some new classmates and build friendships;• become more familiar with the layout of the school;• have some fun in their future school surroundings;• learn new skills with Werneth teachers.

Transport will be provided for all Brinnington students. A bus will leave First House, Brinnington at 8.45am and return at approximately 12.30pm.

Please complete the reply slip enclosed in this booklet, if your child will be attending.

We look forward to seeing you on the day!

We intend that each Year 7 form will contain students from more than one primary school and have a gender and ability mix. We will also try to take into account existing friendships at primary school.

Friendship reply slip:

Please record on the slip provided with this booklet the name of your child and one close friend they wish to be placed with. We must stress that we can only guarantee that your child will be in a form with their friend, if the requests match.

YEAR 6 TRANSITION DAY AT WERNETH SCHOOL

YEAR 7 FORM ORGANISATION

Your child is invited to spend a day at Werneth School on Thursday 4th July 2019.

• Students should make their way to the Student Entrance for an 8.30am start.

• All students will need to wear their primary school uniform so that they are easily identified amongst the population of the school.

• All students from Brinnington will be allowed to use the Yellow Bus service to and from school FREE OF CHARGE on this day.

Break time arrangements:

• Please provide your child with a snack for break time. Please also send your child with a bottle of water, this can be refilled throughout the day.

Lunch time arrangements:

• If your child currently receives a free school meal at their primary school we will provide a free lunch. Please complete the Biometrics form enclosed.

• If your child wishes to use the school canteen on Induction day please ensure you have returned the enclosed biometrics consent form. Without this your child will not be able to purchase anything from the canteen.

• You are welcome to send your child in to school with a packed lunch.End of day arrangements:

• The day will end at 3.10pm. Your child will leave school through the Student Entrance.

• If your child is using the Brinnington Yellow Bus Service they will be escorted to the bus.

You are invited as parents to attend Werneth School on Thursday 4th July 2019, from 5pm onwards.

Venue: Main Hall please enter through the main reception entrance

Time:

‣ 5.15pm - 6.00pm in the Dining Hall to complete admission paperwork.

‣ 6.00pm - 6.20pm Headteachers welcome in the Main School Hall.

‣ 6.20pm - 6.45pm ‘Meet your child’s Form Tutor'

The Pastoral team, SENCO and School Nurse will also be available.

The uniform suppliers will be available for orders and purchases from 5pm onwards.
