SINGLE ESTATE & BLENDED BLACK TEASBlack teas are what you find in your everyday English Breakfast teabags & are teas that are fully processed which means the leaves have been left to oxidise after being ‘bruised‘

(i.e. bashed about a bit). The more a leaf is oxidised, the less anti-oxidants it contains & the more caffeine it has. This is why black tea tends to be in breakfast blends.

Here we have a blend of Assam leaf, Assam CTC, broken Ceylon leaf and broken Sumatra leaf. Not only will it wake you up in the

morning, it’ll taste darned good whilst its at it.

Teahouse Breakfast Blend£2.75

A light aromatic blend of Darjeeling and Assam leaves, beautifully combined to make this superb, refreshing brew.

Afternoon Tea£2.75

B2

An atypical Assam tea. The usual full malty flavour – but full leaf, rather than the cut up leaves that are synonymous with that

region.

Assam – ‘Dikom’£2.75B3

A fully aromatic tea of great quality, with a wonderful after taste – a top example of what Sri Lanka can produce.

Ceylon OP – ‘Nuwara Eliya’£2.75

B4

A punchier flavour than our other Ceylon. This delicious Sri Lankan tea of light colour is a similar profile to the tea blends

that have become a favourite in Turkey.

Ceylon OPA – ‘Turkish Blend’£2.75B5

A sublime first flush SFTGFOP Nepalese tea, traditionally drunk without milk. This is of the highest grading and the taste truly

reflects this. A must.Nepal FF – ‘Fikkal’

£2.95B6

A delicious first flush brew, best without milk so you can enjoy the light floral taste that comes with a first flush Darjeeling.

Darjeeling FF – ‘Singtom’£2.95

SINGLE ESTATE & BLENDED BLACK TEAS

A fantastic mix of second flush teas from the great gardens of Darjeeling, Nepal and Sikkim. Blended to cost effective perfection.

Himalayan Blend£2.75

A cracking cuppa with a slightly smoky taste that really shows that Kenya is one of the big lads in the world of tea – Triple H to Assam’s

Mick Foley, if you will.

Kenyan GFOP – ‘Marynin’£2.75

B10

This skilfully worked tea with lots of tips has been fermented twice and thus has a quite strong flavour. It is something of an

acquired taste!

Royal Pu-Erh£2.95

B11

A beautiful FTGFOP with a fruity finish that comes from an estate that grows Chinese tea bushes. The ‘IB’ means ‘in-between’, meaning the tea

has been picked between the spring pick and the summer one.

Darjeeling IB – ‘Chongtong’£2.95

B12

This beautiful TGFOP hails from the Nilgiri mountains in the south of India and is really quite delicious. If it was from further north, we could

have said it was ‘Delhi-cious’ but it isn’t so we can’t.

Nilgiri – ‘Chamraj’£2.95

B13

A specialised Chinese black tea that comes from the Qimen county. This tea is traditionally drunk without milk and we reckon it tastes a bit

like those chocolate mousses you get in yoghurt pots.

Keemun Mao Feng£2.95B14

A blend of de-caffeinated Ceylon tea leaves. Please bear in mind that no de-caff tea is truly free from caffeine. It does have significantly less

than standard black tea, so it shouldn’t keep you awake too much.

De-Caff£2.95

B15

Darjeeling SF – ‘Margaret’s Hope’£2.95

Full bodied, aromatic tasting second flush FTGFOP from the esteemed Goodricke’s Group. Can stand up to milk if you’re that

way inclined, but also tastes great by itself.

Page 4: WELCOME TO THE TEAHOUSE€¦ · Teahouse Oolong G4 £2.95 A decidedly fruity Pai Mu Tan – a seriously good brew. Light, sometimes apricotty, sometimes green-bananary and always

GREEN, WHITE, YELLOW & OOLONG TEASGreen & yellow tea leaves are tea leaves that, once picked, have been left for a little while to oxidise and then dried to stop the oxidisation process. This

gives the tea more caffeine & less anti-oxidants.White teas are teas that have been barely processed. White teas are dried as soon as they are picked, meaning they retain the most anti-oxidants & contain the least caffeine.

A fresh green tea from Yunnan with a slight taste of apricot. This tea is fully produced by hand and the leaf is filled with white

tips.

Teahouse Green£2.75

A light and delicate hand-rolled tea grown at a high elevation. So naturally it had to be named after them tree-dwelling primates.

A classic from the province of Fujian.Fujian Green Monkey

£2.95G2

A great starter tea if you are exploring the Japanese side of brews. Sencha is a needle shaped green tea, the first step in production being

a jolly good steam, which produces a highly vegetal flavour.

Teahouse Sencha£2.95G3

Taiwan is well known for it’s oolongs, and this particular light fruity number demonstrates why.

Teahouse Oolong£2.95

G4

A decidedly fruity Pai Mu Tan – a seriously good brew. Light, sometimes apricotty, sometimes green-bananary and always

wonderful for you.

Yunnan White£2.95G5

The silver coloured leaves of this tea infuse to give a striking gold-yellow cup. Only the very delicate, filigree tips and the first

leaf of the tea bush are processed to make this tea.

Vietnam White Tam£2.95G6

Being only very slightly fermented, this tea retains some of those lovely anti-oxidants you find in green tea, but with a less grassy taste. Here there should be

notes of a sweet earthiness, a bit like dark chocolate or coffee.

Yellow Tea – ‘Huang Da Cha’£2.95

G7

GREEN, WHITE, YELLOW & OOLONG TEAS

Gunpowder tea is so called because the way it has been rolled makes this green tea resemble small

gunpowder pellets, like what that bloke plotted to do stuff with. Rolling tea this way helps it retain

the freshness of the leaf – the ‘pinhead’ part referring to the tightness of the roll.

Pinhead Gunpowder£2.95

Genmaicha£2.95

This tea came about when Japanese peasants combined green tea with brown rice so that they could

get more brews out of a batch. It’s also known as ‘popcorn tea’ due to the rice popping during the

roasting process. With its distinctive taste, it’s now a brew in its own right. Huzzah!

FLAVOURED TEAS

Our flavoured teas are a variety of black, green, white and oolong teas, each with their very own distinct flavours.

An Earl Grey made from distinctly floral and light Darjeeling tea which combined with bergamot, is really quite delightful.

Best for those who like their Earl Grey with lemon.Darjeeling Earl Grey

£2.95

This is no ordinary Earl Grey – the bergamot flavour in this one comes from three different sources and the tea leaves give a fairly strong brew.

Best for those who like their Earl Grey with milk.

Earl Grey Special£2.75

F2

A well established alternative to the traditional Earl Grey, usually named after his lass – Miss Mary Ponsonby. In addition to bergamot, the

black tea has been complimented with orange and lemon.

Miss P£2.75F3

Manufactured from the finest Jasmine petals and tender young leaves. The complex natural aromatisation leaves a hint of coolness in the after

taste. No flowers left in Jasmine tea is a sign of quality.

Finest Jasmine£2.95

F4

This is black tea that has been smoke dried over a pine fire. This particular Lapsang is tarry, meaning that pine sap has been

used on the fire, a method that hails from Taiwan.Lapsang Souchong

£2.75F5A blend of Assam, Keemun and Lapsang Souchong teas – named after the

smoky blend that was carried via ‘caravan’ 6,000 miles from China to Russia. The smoked tea kept it preserved and less prone to getting damp.

Russian Caravan£2.75F6

HERBAL & MASALA BLENDSHerbal teas are not technically teas as they don’t derive from the Camellia sinensis plant (i.e. the plant that is

used to create black, oolong, green and white teas). Instead, herbal tea is an infusion or blend of various leaves, fruits, bark, roots, or flowers.

This classic herbal tea is wonderfully sweet and aromatic, and it does wonders for your sleep (apparently). Well done camomile,

COFFEE & COLD DRINKSSpicy, creamy & sweet. We use a traditional blend of spices brewed with strong black loose leaf tea to create our nod to the masala chai of India. Served in tiny portions on street corners, this sugar/caffeine hit is an integralpart of daily life for many. In Kolkata it would be served in a shotglass sized clay pot. Which you

would then smash on the floor. Please don’t do that with our tea cups.
