experts who all met at This News
Club. The club later got renamed
into Reporters Club. Through time it
lost some members, got some new
ones, and had old ones come back. Recently, however, the reporter's
family got even bigger when the News Elective was founded.
Now our amazing team is getting bigger, better, smarter and is proud
to present their work to families and students of ThIS!

The feelings are anger, joy, disgust, sadness and fear. Anger is red
Joy is yellow
Disgust is green
Sadness is blue
and Fear is purple.
I recommend this film to everybody!
STORY TIME
The Missing Rabbit by Etidal PYP 2
One time it was 5 rabbits and the 5 rabbits were eating carrots. And then the mum rabbit was counting her baby rabbits but suddenly 1 rabbit was missing. And then other rabbits were finding him. And they had an idea, the idea was that they put carrots around the grass and ground. He followed the carrots and ate the carrots and then he found his family. The end.

There aren’t many Mongolia horses left. Their legs are short and shorter than a horses. Their bodies are heavier than a piano. They eat grass and fruit. We do not have many, we have only 1200 in the world.

How to make an Imaginary Friend? by Lina Sofia PYP 3 and Mari PYP 4
To make an imaginary friend you have to make it up in your mind. For example is to add some...erm? Magic poop? OK?! :) If you have seen Inside Out (the animated movie) there is an imaginary friend that is called Bing Bong!
You need to put these ingredients together:
Put a face into the pot and smash it. Take some sugar and mix it with the face. Make sure you do all this in your mind :)

MOVIE REVIEW
The Martian By Daniel MYP 9
The Martian is the newest film by award winning director Ridley Scott, who directed the Alien series, Blade Runner, Gladiator, and other classics. He is now almost 80 years old. The movie had a budget of 108 000 000 dollars (885,416,400 NOK), and showcased the development of CGI and special effects in the film industry. It has made about 150 000 000 dollars in the US alone. But the question is: is it good?
Yes. The movie is very good. It managed to get onto the IMDB top 250 movies list already, actually. It has convincing CGI, very well designed sets, and was filmed in a desert for the authenticity. It has a thought through story that makes sense .
The performance by Matt Damon obviously steals the show, as it is pretty much the only one that is relevant to the movie, and the only one the movie specifically focuses on.
Overall, this is one of the few movies I would recommend going to the cinema for.

The Truth about Seaworld By Sikander MYP7
The famous and joyful experience of Sea World has attracted many people around the world to come and experience with their own eyes the magnificent orca whale. But when it comes to the actual health of the animals, studies have found shocking and disturbing facts.
When Seaworld was first founded in 1958 they promised the public that the animals would have the best care possible, but in 2000 it was found that the animals in Sea World were enclosed in small tanks with little to no water inside it and treated badly. It was also found that trainers beat the whales when they would “misbehave”. Whales were forced to share tanks with other whales and when they would act up that individual whale wouldn't get punished, but for all the whales it shared the tank with this would mean not being fed or getting physical punishment.
When pressure was out on Sea world they defended themselves by saying that the trainers know what they were doing and the animal was getting punished just like a little child would be. But when reporters and vets examined the animal it showed that the animal was pregnant, but was still being violently punished. Not only that, Seaworld has been proven to keep whales from different regions in the same tank thinking that they would mate but these animals were kept in different conditions. In 2012 over 15 orca whales were reported dead in 5 weeks from lack of food and abuse.
Seaworld is still open to the public but since 2012 no one knows how Seaworld is treating their animals.

Kepler

What is Kepler?
Kepler is a spacecraft named after Johannes Kepler, who was a German mathematician and astronomer. Kepler’s main job is to discover Earth-like planets that we could live on in the future. This year, the number of planets that it has discovered exceeded 1000. Some of them are surprisingly similar to Earth, and some of them seem straight out of science-fiction.
Kepler 186f
Kepler 186f is the most Earth-like planet ever discovered. It is slightly larger than Earth and the potential of life of these worlds is difficult to relate to Earth since there are no planets in the Solar System of comparable size and we know very little of them. It is 500 light years away from
Earth.
Kepler 8b
Kepler 8b was the first rocky planet discovered by Kepler and it only takes 3,5 days for this planet to finish it’s orbit around it’s Sun, Kepler 8. It is one of the fifth exoplanets that Kepler discovered. It has a temperature of almost 6000 degrees celsius!

Kepler 16b
Kepler 16b is the first exoplanet ever discovered that orbits around two suns, just like Tatooine, the home of Luke Skywalker from Star Wars! This planet was discovered in September 2011.
Kepler has later on found planets similar to it.
Kepler 36b and 36c
Kepler 36b and 36c both orbit around the star Kepler 36. If you take a planet like Neptune and put it close to Earth, and some crazy stuff will happen. Tides from the constant interaction would raise the water and the ground, causing fissures and no end of local zoning headaches for municipal authorities as the ground shifts, to say the least. Kepler-36b, which is a rocky world, like Earth, Mars or Mercury comes within less than 5 Earth-Moon distances of Kepler 36-c which
is a gaseous world about 8 times larger every 97 days or so. They’ll never crash into each other, but just like young human siblings, they can cause quite a bit of chaos.
In this artist's conception, Kepler 36c looms in the sky of Kepler 36b. The two planets have repeated close encounters, experiencing conjunction every 90 days on average. At that time, they are about 1.9 million km away from each other which is about 5 times the distance between Earth and our Moon.

HOLIDAYS IN NOVEMBER

Thanksgiving Thanksgiving is a major holiday celebrated in America. It is celebrated on the last Thursday in
November. This year it will be the 26th of November. Americans give thanks to God for his blessings and mercies toward them this year.
All Saints Day
All Saints day, the 1st of November, also known as All Hallows, Day of All the Saints or even Feast of All Saints.
Movember
The point of this is to grow a mustache during the month November. It is done to raise awareness for men’s health.
National Unfriend Day
This is a day in November (Nov.17th) where people unfriend each other on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram etc. On this day you unfriend people you don’t really know like the person you met at
summer camp 3 years ago and you have never met since.
Remembrance Day November 11th. This day is to remember the soldiers that died in the duty of line.

Celebrating the end of the Second World War. 11th of November.

Rihanna's New Album Anti

There were some insecurities in the past about when Rihanna was going to release her new album. But lucky Riri and her team decided the release will be on November the 6th. Rihanna released her album cover on October 7th at Mama Gallery in Los Angeles. The cover was created by Roy Nachum. As you can see it’s a photo of Rihanna, which she says was taken on her “first day at daycare.” Rihanna's 5-year-old self holding a balloon and wearing a crown. And the entire album art is covered in braille. Rihanna explained this by saying: “The people who have sight are the most blind.”
In the braille on the front you can read: "I sometimes fear that I am misunderstood. It is simple because what I want to say, what I need to say, won’t be heard. Heard in a way I so rightfully deserve. What I choose to say is of so much substance that people just won’t understand the depth of my message. So my voice is not my weakness, it is the opposite of what others are afraid of.", and on the back side you can read: "My voice is my suit and armor. My shield, and all that I am. I will comfortably breath in it, until I find the moment to be silent. I live loudly in my mind, so many hours of the day. The world is pin drop sound compared to the boom that thumps and bumps against the walls of my cranium. I live it and love it and despise it and I am entrapped in it. So being misunderstood, I am not offended by the gesture, but honored. If they let us…".
