You will be in Lemurs, and we’ll watch you shine and grow, Year 1 will be fantastic fun,so much to learn and know.
When you get stuck and it seems hard, there’s something you must do, keep believing you can do itbecause we believe in you!
Thank you to all of our wonderful Zebra families. Yoursupport this year, especially throughout these last fewmonths, has been amazing and we are so very grateful. Wehope you all have a well deserved rest this summer and lookforward to seeing you again very soon. There is a well donecertificate for your child on the next page. Please add theirname on the line. We have written a letter to the childrenand made a short video to say goodbye, which we will makeavailable for you to share with them in the next few days. From Mrs Rich, Mrs Midgley, Ziggy and Muddles
Today we are going to be thinking about seasideholidays a long time ago. This is Queen Victoria. She was the queen over 100 years ago. This wascalled the Victorian times, because of her name.
Seaside holidays were very different then, butsome things were the same as our holidays today.
Start by watching Mrs Rich’s video, where she willtalk about the pictures on the next few pages:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MvtKh5QUw_AThis lasts around 20 minutes.
Then, we would like you to write about seasideholidays in Victorian times. There is some paper towrite on and a page with Mrs Rich’s modelledwriting. This should take 30 minutes.Queen Victoria
Now we might go to a different country for a seaside holiday, because we have big planes to get there.

People wore long clothes on the beachand had umbrellas to keep cool. Horsestook people into the sea in little huts onwheels called bathing machines. Theyliked to look in rockpools and buildsandcastles. They ate ice-creams.
In September you will be in Lemur Class! This week we would like you to do some very specialwriting and drawing for your new teacher, Mrs Janman and your new Teaching Assistant, MrsCallaway. These activities have been separated into three sessions, but you can spread these out,or do more on one day. Children at home can bring this to school when you come back.
Session 1• Write your name on the front cover of your special All About Me book.• Draw or paint a picture of yourself.• Draw a picture of your favourite things to play with at home and school and write sentences
about what you have drawn.
Session 2• Draw a picture of a character from your favourite story and write sentences about it.• Write sentences about your favourite things to learn about.
Session 3• Make a wish upon a star. What would you like to get even better at when you are in Year 1?
All About You!
Phonics
Please note that there is not a separate document for Phonics this week.
Session 1: ‘oa’ words wordsearch and picture labelling activity.
Session 2: Use your sounds to write words for the things in the beach picture.
Session 3: Write the missing ‘ar’ and ‘oo’ words in the sentences.
Use your sounds to write words for the things in the picture. Some of the letters in each word have been written for you. But watch out, it isn’t always the first bit of the word that has been written for you!
Session 2
Handwriting (15 minutes per session)
Session 1: We would like you to learn to write your new class name, Lemur. Trace over the dots and then write more of your own. You could use a different colour for every letter.
Session 2: We would like you to learn the name of your new teacher, Mrs Janman. Trace over the dots. You could use a different colour for every letter.
Session 3: We would like you to learn the name of your new Teaching Assistant, Mrs Callaway. Trace over the dots. You could use a different colour for every letter.
You can also use Letterjoin to write these words. Log into Letterjoin, using the instructions in this guide. Ask an adult to type the letter into the Wow Fun option. You could also try other ways to write, such as: writing in rainbow letters; writing in chalk on a patio and then writing over it again with a wet brush to wash it off; writing with a sharpie pen on a big leaf; writing with an upside down wooden spoon in glitter or flour on a baking tray; writing with paint on the end of a cotton bud or feather; writing with icing pens on biscuits; writing in sand with your finger; writing on a steamed up shower door or mirror.
You can also learn all of these sounds and letters from this week by using the WOW FUN- Magic Words part of www.letterjoin.co.uk. Type the word or sound and pick a background. The access instructions are on the next page. For example:
