Your Newport Survey 2016 / Arolwg Eich Casnewydd 2016
Gwahoddir trigolion Casnewydd i gymryd rhan mewn arolwg sy’n gysylltiedig â Deddf Llesiant Cenedlaethau’r Dyfodol (Cymru) sydd â’r nod o wella llesiant economaidd, cymdeithasol a diwylliannol Cymru a Chasnewydd.
Bwriad yr arolwg yw helpu Bwrdd Gwasanaethau Cyhoeddus Un Casnewydd i nodi pa bethau sydd bwysicaf i bobl leol, nawr ac yn y dyfodol.
Dilynwch y ddolen gwblhau’r arolwg ar-lein:
Arolwg Eich Casnewydd 2016
Byddem wir yn gwerthfawrogi os gallech ddosbarthu’r arolwg hwn drwy’ch rhwydweithiau.
Residents of Newport are invited to take part in a survey linked to the Wellbeing of Future Generations (Wales) Act aimed at improving the economic, social, environmental and cultural wellbeing of Wales and Newport.

Wellbeing of Future Generations (Wales) Act 2015 / Deddf Llesiant
Cenedlaethau’r Dyfodol (Cymru) 2015
If you require further information on the WFG Act and our public consultation please
contact the Partnership & Policy Team on email: [email protected] or Tel:
(01633) 656656.
In order for us to engage with the public through partner events, we are looking at
developing an online events calendar that pulls together a list of the different events taking
place across the city. This will be added to the One Newport website. Therefore we would
like to request that partners let us know the details of any future events or any
opportunities for us to better engage with residents. If you can help us please contact the
Partnership & Policy Team on email: [email protected]. We will let you know
when this resource is up and running.
For further understanding of the WFG Act, the Welsh Government has
produced a short animation (YouTube video) that explains the positive
impact the Act will have throughout Megan’s life and tells you more about
what we are doing and why. Additional resources regarding the Act are
also available via the Welsh Government website.
Os oes angen rhagor o wybodaeth arnoch am y Ddeddf a’n hymgynghoriad cyhoeddus
cysylltwch â’r Tîm Partneriaeth a Pholisi ar: [email protected] neu (01633)
656656.
Er mwyn i ni weithio gyda’r cyhoedd drwy ddigwyddiadau partner, rydym yn ystyried
datblygu calendr digwyddiadau ar-lein sy’n ffurfio rhestr o’r digwyddiadau gwahanol a
gynhelir ledled y ddinas. Ychwanegir hyn at wefan Casnewydd yn Un. Felly hoffem ofyn i
bartneriaid roi gwybod i ni am fanylion unrhyw ddigwyddiadau yn y dyfodol neu unrhyw
gyfleoedd i ni gysylltu â thrigolion yn well. Os gallwch ein helpu, cysylltwch â’r Tîm
Partneriaeth a Pholisi ar [email protected]. Byddwn yn rhoi gwybod i chi a
yw’r adnodd hwn ar gael.
I ddysgu mwy am y Ddeddf, mae Llywodraeth Cymru wedi creu cartŵn byr
(fideo YouTube) sy’n egluro effaith gadarnhaol y Ddeddf ar fywyd Megan
gan roi gwybod i chi beth rydym yn ei wneud a pham rydym yn gwneud
hynny. Mae adnoddau ychwanegol am y Ddeddf hefyd ar gael ar wefan
Llywodraeth Cymru.

Cygnet Flying High
CANS is pleased to announce the successful completion of the latest delivery of the Cygnet
Programme for Parents.
Cygnet is led by CANS (Children with Additional Needs Service) and Integrated Family Support
Service (IFSS). The Cygnet Parenting Support Programme is an evidenced-based programme for
parents and carers of children and young people aged 5-18 who are on the autistic spectrum.
The Cygnet programme is delivered over six, three hour sessions, working towards addressing
behaviour management of Autistic Spectrum Conditions. The programme covers the following
topics:
Autism and Diagnosis;
Communication;
Sensory Issues;
Understanding behaviour;
Managing Behaviour; and
Resource making.
The evidenced based programme is evaluated weekly and has been well received by parents.
Feedback from parents has included the following comments:
“I really enjoyed the course, I found it very informative and it was beneficial talking and listening
to other parents points of views”.
“Cygnet has given me ideas tools and hope for my son’s future, the team that led the group is so
supportive and it has been lovely to be with a group of parents who are so willing to share their
thoughts and feelings”.
“I have thoroughly enjoyed each session and have learnt a great deal about coping strategies and
triggers. I have gained so much from the staff and the other parents on the group. We are
fortunate to have services like this available to us and I would recommend the course to other
parents.
In order to access the course it is not necessary for children to be in receipt of a diagnosis.
Parents and carers can also access the programme if they have been informed that their child has
traits of autism, or if a diagnosis is pending.
Delivery of the next Cygnet Programme will take place during October. If you would be
interested in attending please contact Families 1st on 01633 851782
Alternatively for more information, contact Meryl Aitken (CANS Team Leader) on 01633 748054.

Road to Rio
The innovative Road to Rio participation campaign has come to an end and it’s been a fantastic
few months in Newport. Working in partnership Newport Live, Newport City Homes, Lync,
Charter Housing, MHA, and Tesco have delivered a really positive programme of engagement
allowing families, children, and young people to try some new sports and activities on their
doorstep for free.
Below are links to 3 good quality video clips of the positive outreach work taking place.

Road to Rio Olympic and Paralympic Community and Family Open Day at NISV
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=McooBoeCT1g (video by Newport City Homes)
Over the past 2 months Sports Coaches and Volunteers have
delivered in many ward areas, hard to reach communities, primary
schools, the city centre, at Big Splash, the Fan Zone, and also at the
big event on the opening day of the Olympic Games at NISV.
Over 10,000 children and young people have participated, lots of smiley faces, and lots of taster
sessions of new sports! It’s been hard work but great fun, and we’ve managed to create some
fantastic links to local sports clubs, National Governing Bodies of Sport, Schools, Communities,
and Partners Organisations.
We’ll be developing something new along the same lines we hope, in partnership, to continue
the good work all year round…. Watch this space!
