Dear Parishioners,
The Holy Spirit descends upon Mary and the Apostles today
on the Solemnity of Pentecost. This is beautifully depicted in
the great window of St. Mary. As flames of holiness, the Holy
Spirit gives new life to us. We now live, not with human
strength, rather in the power of the Holy Spirit. Every good
gift is to be received with openness for the purposes of God,
God's Divine Will. Gently in the Holy Spirit, we are trans-
formed, we are recreated into the person that God wants us
to be.
We read of the many gifts that the Holy Spirit gave to Jesus'
disciples in the Sacred Scriptures 2000 years ago. In our
New Time, the Holy Spirit is pouring out NEW GIFTS of heal-
ing, understanding, forgiveness, Divine truth, unity, multipli-
cation, inspiration and love that never ends!
That's why we can set aside and forget about comparing
ourselves with others, criticizing others, gossip, self-will,
seeking honors and awards, lusting for more money, com-
plaining about not getting our way, participation in chaos or
crime. Everything good is God's Grace. We receive all good
things by accepting and participating in God's Holy Will.
Let's invite the Holy Spirit anew into our hearts!
Pentecost Blessings upon your family,
Father Gabriel

Dear Parishioner,
By order of the Archbishop, "I am happy to announce that starting 30-31 May 2020, Pentecost Sunday" we will resume public
Mass in our parishes. This is an invitation to new life in Jesus Christ. This begins with an interior focus on Jesus. Desiring to do
His Will, accepting Him as our Lord and Savior. We pray our family Rosary every day. We have complete trust in God's Divine Plan
for us because of His Eternal Love!
Receiving Holy Communion when gathered for Holy Mass with the holy community is an important practice of our Holy Catholic
Faith. However, charity is the supreme rule, which inspires devotion to the common good, which inspires the following provisions.
Below we have outlined procedures to ensure the safety of all. Your patience and cooperation are most appreciated.
Please stay safe at home and do not come to Mass, if you…
· Are sick, or have recently been sick, or have an underlying medical condition
· Are frail due to advanced age
· Are nervous about contracting COVID-19
· Live with and/or care for someone sick, elderly, at risk, or with COVID-19
· Work at or regularly visit high-risk situations, where there are COVID-19 cases
Even when Mass is being offered, the above-mentioned folks should stay home, either to protect themselves or others from conta-
gion. Mass obligation is still dispensed.
Safety measures to prevent contagion:
We encourage you to wear a face mask. People should avoid mingling before/after gathering in church.
Church doors (inside/and outside) will be kept open to eliminate people touching door handles.
Hand sanitizer will be available at each entrance. We ask that everyone entering/exiting to perform hand hygiene.
Public restrooms will not be available.
Everyone will need to practice social distancing, with exception of families from same household may sit together. Every other row
of pews will be available for seating (pews not available will be taped off). We are planning for overflow areas for people to sit
and partake in mass.
Taped markings will be on the communion aisle floor to ensure social distancing.
All church missals will be removed from the pews.
Holy water and baptismal fonts are emptied.
There will be NO: bringing up the gifts, children’s liturgy, holding hands during sign of peace, and no scrip sales.
Only the Sacred Host will be offered at Communion time, and not the cup. Receiving the Host on the tongue is discouraged, for
sanitary reasons. Communion Ministers will wear a mask to distribute the Host and sanitize their hands before & after distri-
bution.
There will be NO homebound communion at this time.
Ushers will dismiss the congregation at the end of mass by row to ensure social distancing.
By God’s grace, we have entered a New Time. Focus on Jesus, trusting in Him and accepting what God gives us. We are all in this
together!

Thank You! THANK YOU to all who answered the call to FEED THE HUN-
GRY. Freezer meals and baked cookies supported Delaware
County Pay It Forward’s effort to help families and individuals
struggling during this difficult time. Your generous gifts of time,
talent, and treasure were so appreciated by the recipients.
Second Helpings gave 178 individual meals “curbside” and
the more than 75 casseroles should provide an additional
meal or two for families. To learn of more ways to help your

In Challenging Time
Dear God, draw near to me as these challenges I face. Grant
me faith and courage, touch me with your grace - Let me feel
your presence in all that I go through, calm my fears with com-
fort for I’m safe right here with you. Amen.
Prayer of Spiritual Communion
My Jesus,
I believe that you are present in the most Blessed Sacrament.
I love You above all things and I desire to receive You into my soul.
Since I cannot now receive You sacramentally, come at least
spiritually into my heart. I embrace You and unite myself wholly to You.
Never permit me to be separated from You. Amen.

The Holy Spirit descends upon Mary and the disciples of Jesus
“When the time for Pentecost was fulfilled, they were all in one place together. And sud-denly there came from the sky a noise like a strong driving wind, and it filled the entire house in which they were. Then there appeared to them tongues as of fire, which parted and came to rest on each one of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit…” Acts 2:1-3
While the Holy Apostles were generally ignorant of the Holy Spirit, the Immaculate Mary knew Him intimately. Mary had already experienced the descent of the Holy Spirit at her Immaculate Conception since at that moment she was saved, not just preserved from all sin, but also filled with grace and the Holy Spirit. She was perfectly possessed by the Holy Spirit from the first moment of her existence.
Moreover, the Holy Spirit overshadowed her in a powerful way at the virginal conception of Christ our Lord. Her whole life, then, was a communication with the Holy Spirit and she profoundly understood the mystery of the Holy Trinity.
In the nine days between the Ascension and Pentecost. Mary was praying that the Apos-tles might come to know Him whom she already knew. While the Apostles prayed and waited without knowledge, Mary prayed with knowledge of the Advocate, the Holy Spirit.
This Pentecost was the birthday of the Catholic Church. As the Holy Spirit overshadowed the Blessed Virgin at the Annunciation and conceived Christ the Head of the Mystical Body in the womb of Mary, so now the Holy Ghost mystically conceives the Body of Christ, the Church.

Simple Lessons from the Blessed Virgin Mary on Trusting the Holy Spirit:
1. Luke 1:38: I am the handmaid of the Lord. Invoke the Holy Spirit to possess you more fully with His love and receive Him anew with docility and joy.
2. Luke 1:38: Be it done unto me according to your word. Desire to receive, respond, and retain an active love relationship with the Holy Spirit.
3. Luke 1:47: The Mighty One has done great things for me. Humbly pray for the Spirit’s fire to set your heart ablaze and welcome the gifts and fruits of the Spirit.
4. Luke 1:46: My spirit rejoices in God my Savior. Acknowledge before God and man that whatever is good in you and your life is the gratuitous work of the Holy Spirit.
5. Luke 1:53: He has lifted up the humble. Stay in the middle of the collaborative action of Mary and the Holy Spirit so that you remain in the love that protects, sanctifies, equips you and empowers your mission.
6. Luke 1:48. His mercy endures forever. Contemplate the Upper Room and Christ’s three interrelated initiatives for love and life: Eucharist, Priesthood & Pentecost.
7. John 2:5: Do whatever He tells you. With expectant faith daily invoke the Holy Spirit as your soul’s best friend seeking loving companionship, counsel, courage, and direction.
GIFTS OF THE HOLY SPIRIT
Wisdom is the perfection of faith. Where faith is a simple knowledge of the articles of Christian belief. Through wisdom, we judge the things of the world in light of the highest end of man—the contemplation of God. Understanding allows us to “penetrate to the very core of revealed truths.” Such certitude moves beyond faith, which “merely assents to what God has revealed.” Good Counsel, Like the cardinal virtue, prudence, counsel allows us to judge rightly what we should do in a par-ticular circumstance. We respond to the promptings of the Holy Spirit as if by instinct. Fortitude is the virtue that allows us to remain steady in our will in the face of obstacles. Fortitude helps us to stand up for what is right, even when others say that Christian belief or moral action is “outdated.” Knowledge, like wisdom, perfects the theological virtue of faith. Knowledge enables those who have the gift to discern easily and effectively between the impulses of temptation and the inspirations of grace. Piety is the moral virtue by which a person is disposed to render to God the worship and service he deserves. Piety draws us to Mass; it prompts us to pray, even when we may not feel like doing so. Fear of the Lord confirms the theological virtue of hope. We are not frightened of God but trust and respect Him. Fear of the Lord is the desire not to offend Him. The fear of the Lord is like the respect we have for our par-ents. We do not wish to offend them, but we also do not live in fear of them, in the sense of being frightened. REFLECTION How do I interact with the Holy Spirit…what prayers do I say….am I aware of His assistance… do I call on Him, be-fore reading scripture, before making difficult decisions, for protection against temptation,… how can my rela-tionship to the Spirit assist me to overcome tendencies in pride, anger, lust, greed, envy, excess, and laziness…do I ever thank the Holy Spirit for his assistance???
