COMPETITIONRULES

AllDivisions• Refereeabuseinanyformwillnotbetolerated.Coaches,athletesor

spectatorsengaginginrefereeabusewillbegivenonewarningandthenejectedfromthegroundsandprohibitedfromreturning.Teamswithcontinuinginappropriatebehaviorwillbedisqualified.TeamsAREresponsiblefortheirsupporters’behavior!!

• Fendoffsareallowedbutnottoneckorfaceasthisisconsidereddangerous

play.Tacklesatorabovetheshouldersareconsideredhightacklesandillegal.Whiptackling,useofthejerseyto“whip”playertotheground,isconsidereddangerousplayandillegal.

PoolRounds,Re-SeedingandTie-Breakers:InPoolmatches,teamsaccruematchpointsasfollows:

• Win=3points• Tie=2points(TiesstandinthePoolround)• Loss=1point• Forfeit=0points

InDivisionsthathaveknockoutroundsafterPoolplay,teamswillbere-seededaccordingtothematchpointstheyearnedinthePoolround(asabove).Ifteamshavetiedmatchpointsduringre-seeding,thetiewillbebrokenasfollows:

REFEREESTherewillbearefereeoneachfieldforeverygame.Eachteamwillbeaskedtoprovidelinejudgesforgamestheyareinvolvedin,exceptforSemi-FinalsandFinals,whichwillhaverefereesasARs.Refereeswillbeaskedtogiveonlyone(1)warningforunsportsmanlikeactivities(arguingwith,oryellingatreferee;andinappropriatesidelinebehavior).Eachcoachisresponsiblefortheirteamanditssupporters.Teamswillbedisqualifiedforcontinuedinappropriatebehaviorafterthefirstwarning.

MEDICALKeepingathletessafeisourprimaryconcern.WewillhaveanAthleticTrainerstationedateachpitchorpairofpitchestoattendtoanyathletesinjuredinthecourseofplay.Alltrainerswillbewearinghi-visyellowpinnies.TherewillalsobeamedicaltentstationedneartheSCYRHQtent,withanadditionaltrainerandiceandbagsavailable.Medicalstaffcantapeathleteswhennotattendingtoinjuries;however,athleteswillneedtosupplytheirowntape.Tapewillbeavailableforsale($2/roll)atbothmedicaltentandtheSYCRmerchandisetentTournamentmedicalstaffwillhavesolediscretiontodetermineifanathleteisfittoreturntothefieldofplay.Ifanathleterefusestreatment,theparentorcoachwillberequiredtosignaRefusalofCareAgainstMedicalAdvicerelease.NOEXCEPTIONS.

Covered/Cool Parking Directions

From Orange County: From I-5, exit Vista Hermosa and turn RIGHT. Make your 3rd left in to Outlets at San Clemente and immediately turn right into the lower level of the parking garage.

From San Diego: From I-5, exit Avenida Pico and turn LEFT.Travel on Avenida Pico for approximately one mile and thenturn right onto Avenida Vista Hermosa. Take the first right intothe Outlets at San Clemente shopping center and immediately turn right into the lower level of the parking garage.

Each Saturday, youth rugby athletes across Southern California gather for competition, friendship, teamwork, and in respect for our great sport. Southern California Youth Rugby would like to pay special acknowledgement to Nick Flaherty. Nick was an SCYR Griffin just last summer representing his San Clemente Tritons. Thereafter, Nick’s game expanded to become a member of the Grand Canyon University Rugby Team. Very recently and suddenly, Nick was diagnosed with t-lymphoblastic lymphoma. The thousands of athletes, coaches, referees, administrators, and families in the Southern California Youth Rugby membership share our heartfelt well wishes for Nick in his battle back to the pitch.
