Magazine-Style ProposalMagazine-Style Proposal
Sometimes you need a sidekick to give your proposals that extra POW! Most people have graphic tools, but few have the ability to design a magazine-style proposal where every page is an attention-getter (but not in an irritating way like it might be if the Joker designed it). Your competition will rue the day you learned to partner with graphic artists to make your proposal POP! Brent shows us what’s inside the heads of graphic artists and how to work with them to bring out their best work.

At the outset of a Capture effort three questions have to be answered:(i) Who is competing; how are they positioned?(ii) How do our strengths and weaknesses compare with our competitors?(iii) How will competitors compete?Capture teams seldom put adequate thought and effort into answering these questions. They neither have the tools nor the practical experience to do so. This introduces a trio of analytical methods that arm teams with approaches for getting answers to these questions.

The Credible Hulk:The Credible Hulk:Fighting Inferior Past PerformanceFighting Inferior Past Performance
Mild-mannered proposal experts turn into Credible Hulks when confronted with poor quality past performance citations. Enraged by unsubstantiated claims, these Credible Hulks consistently seek solid evidence to score well in past performance. They know that the only way to score blue is to (1) design a compelling template, (2) define the way to respond to size, scope, and complexity; (3) demonstrate results that prove you can deliver; and (4) address quality metrics that show how your work has improved your client’s life. This presentation will provide best practices for developing past performance citations that will satisfy the Hulks.
Brooke Crouter, a Principal Consultant at Lohfeld Consulting, supports capture and proposal development, assists corporate clients to improve capture and proposal processes and tools, and develops and presents training. During 15 years at Booz Allen Hamilton, she managed large program teams, helped establish the firm’s competitive framework, and provided thought leadership in past-performance, designing a firm-wide past-performance database and central CPAR management process. She has a BA (University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill), an MS (Naval Postgraduate School), and a certificate in Strategic Studies (Naval War College).

While Superman has many talents that your average proposal professional envies, X-ray vision is arguably the most useful one. Seeing through layers of objects? Excellent skill. Telepathic communication is the transference of feelings and thoughts from one person to another using only the power of your mind. Telepathy, however, is not an effective communication skill in the workplace. We often make assumptions about what people want, need and expect. In this session, we’ll explore ways to improve communication with the people around you that will get better results. We’ll discuss how communication style impacts how people perceive you and how the delivery method, words, and tone impact the outcome of the conversation and what you can do to improve it. Serving members’ needs and advancing Proposal and Capture Management throughout the Southeast. Our Chapter contributes strongly to the overall mission of APMP. At APMP, we welcome both novice and seasoned proposal professionals to learn about the latest trends and issues in the world of proposal development and stay up-to-date on the latest innovations in proposal management. Chartered in 1994, the Georgia Chattahoochee APMP Chapter has earned a reputation as an innovative, active local organization. Our 139+ members come from the metro-Atlanta area, other parts of Georgia, and neighboring states. Members of our chapter have filled several different leadership positions on the APMP Board of Directors. The chapter holds five dinner meetings a year in northwest Atlanta and has hosts the Southern Proposal Accents Conference (SPAC) for over fifteen years, with the Carolina APMP chapters for the past seven years and, most recently, the Florida Sunshine Chapter.

The Carolinas Chapter of APMP is a proud coordinator of SPAC and has been serving APMP members across the North and South Carolina region for well over a decade. Our chapter was founded in 1998 by a small of group proposal professionals. Today, we have grown to nearly 100 affiliate members who represent a broad array of national and international industries. The Carolinas Chapter has also been nationally recognized by APMP as an Outstanding Chapter for our active and consistent support of membership events and activities.
Whether you haven’t joined APMP yet or you are already a member living in the Carolinas, but have not yet affiliated with the Carolinas Chapter, we would love to have you. If you have colleagues who you think would benefit from APMP membership, let us know and we will be happy to reach out to them.

Chartered in September 2007 with 38 charter members our chapter now has over 100 members. As an APMP member, affiliate with the Florida chapter -- free of charge -- through your member account on the APMP web site. Although most of our members are in Florida, we encourage chapter membership and involvement of APMP members anywhere, particularly in nearby states that have no active APMP chapters: Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, Kentucky, and Tennessee. With our chapter being virtual, you can attend our general membership meetings through your computer and telephone. Four general membership meetings -- open to APMP members and non-members -- are scheduled typically in March, June, September, and December. These meetings offer informative programs about various proposal development topics, provide APMP news, and allow for on-line networking. For the foreseeable future, the meetings will be held virtually through webinar/conference call resources. However, we may occasionally hold virtual/physical (hybrid) or physical meetings as our chapter membership grows. We hope you’ll join our chapter and actively support our activities. See you at our next general membership meeting (virtually speaking)
