Child Abuse is A Major Challenge to Well Being of Young Children 0-5
• The rate of child abuse and neglect for infants in South Valley Target area is 50% higher than the county rate*.
• The rate of child abuse and neglect for toddlers (1-4 year olds) is 30% higher than the county rate*.
• Children exposed to toxic stress do not achieve optimum development in the early years and are at risk for many cognitive, physical, emotional, mental, social disabilities throughout their young and adult life.
