Broadstairs a charming seaside town, the home of Hilderstone College Welcome to Thanet Ramsgate with its royal harbour Ramsgate has a maritime history dating back hundreds of years. It boasts a royal harbour full of boats and yatchs, surrounded by cafes and restaurants. It is open seven days a week and has over fifty shops and restaurants, as well as a ten-screen cinema, health club and casino. There are also regular special events and market stalls for your enjoyment. It has over 700 years of history and was a holiday home for both Charles Dickens and Queen Victoria. The busy town centre has many small shops, banks, snack bars and supermarkets. It has seven sandy bays to explore, cliff-top walks and cycle paths, golf, sailing and surfing; the perfect destination for a relaxed study vacation. Hilderstone College is located on the town’s main road. Just a short walk brings you to the railway station and library, and then the shops of the High Street. At the end of the road, just 800 metres from the College, is the seafront with its cafes, bars, restaurants and ice-cream parlours, as well as the main beach: Viking Bay. The town has festivals and events throughout the year including: Folk Week, an increasingly popular music festival, which attracts visitors from all over the country and musicians from all over the world, Dickens Week, a celebration of the author and his works, several of which were written in the town, and Broadstairs Food Festival. The town is a popular place for an evening out, with a wide range of international restaurants as well as pubs and bars. Broadstairs benefits from a direct, high-speed, train link with Canterbury and London, as well as Ashford, from where you can get a fast train to Paris and beyond.
