We sent you a letter last October about the plans we are making to prepare for Brexit. The letter explained our proposal to transfer policies from Standard Life Assurance Limited in Scotland to Standard Life International Designated Activity Company (Standard Life International) in Ireland.

The Scottish Court has approved the transfer of the policies. Your policy and its administration will transfer to Standard Life International on 29 March 2019. Standard Life International will assume the rights and obligations of Standard Life Assurance Limited under your policy from that date.

Protecting your interestsWe’ve made these changes to our business to protect the interests of EU customers. Without the changes it’s likely that Standard Life could be stopped from servicing your policy after the UK’s proposed withdrawal from the EU. As your policy is now with an Irish company, it’ll continue to be administered in the EU, irrespective of the outcome of the Brexit negotiations.

Although the Standard Life provider of your policy has changed to Standard Life International, its administration is unchanged. You’ll notice no difference in the day-to-day management of your policy.

Standard Life International

• Following the transfer, information on your policy will be sent from Standard Life Assurance Limited to Standard Life International.

• Standard Life International will service your policy and will take on the rights and obligations of Standard Life Assurance Limited under the policy.

• Standard Life International has updated its privacy policy to reflect this. You can see the updated version on www.standardlife.ie/privacy.

Processing by Standard Life Assurance Limited for reinsurance purposes

• Standard Life International and Standard Life Assurance Limited will enter into reinsurance arrangements as part of the transfer. These arrangements have been made so that customers who have policies in Standard Life Assurance with profits funds can continue to participate in them.

• As a result, Standard Life Assurance Limited will be a data controller processing transferring policyholders’ data for the purpose of reinsurance. The privacy policy will be changed to reflect this.
