Prayer Before Mass

Come Holy Spirit and quiet my heart and my head, as I gather with my friends and neighbors to celebrate Mass. I am saint and sinner. Open my ears to Your words. Open my mouth in prayer and song. Open my eyes to see your mystery in symbol and sign. Open my

heart in love for You and my neighbor. Quiet the thoughts and distrac ons that will keep me from prayer. Strengthen me to take the Mass into my life this week. Amen.

Steward Reflection “The seed sown among thorns is the one who hears the

word but then the cares of the world and the lure of rich-

es choke the word and it bears no fruit.” - MATTHEW

13:22

Does the lure of riches and material goods choke God out of your life? Are you so caught up in worldly ac vi-

es that you have no me for God? Stewardship is a lifestyle to be lived every day. It effects all the decisions we make. What we receive at Mass every Sunday should be shared with others all the other days of the week.

Notes from Fr. Joe Wormek

I thought I would give you a report of your generosity to the ACA (Annual Catholic Appeal). To date we have had contribu ons of $85,577. There have been 50 new donors which is great. We

had 209 people increase their contribu ons by $12,457 and 181 maintained their gi . There were 39 people who had decreased their gi by $2,030. There were only 20 signed cards from people who could not give this year.

Thus considering how well we did with the Beyond Sunday Campaign by receiving over $1.6 million in pledges, we did great this year. I know we did not reach our goal of $92,317; and especially the challenge goal from last year totaling $107,433, but you can only do so much.

Whether it be the ACA campaign or even the Sunday collec on, my concern is the number of people who do not give at all. I know there is also another whole group who may give, but we have no record of their contribu ons because they want to keep it confiden al between God and themselves.

Posi vely, we s ll have people who are registering in our parish and want to be part of our community. We should make sure they feel welcome. So, if you see someone you do not recognize in church, please introduce yourself and make them feel welcome

Your Pastor,

Fr. Joe Wormek
