To interpret – soil vertical structure, landscape variation, & global geography as a story of their origins and genesis
= spatial variation developing through time
To understand – soil as a key component of the Earth's biosphere & climate system
To foresee – global consequences of direct & indirect impacts of human activity on soil condition & processes
