Council
What is Rep Council?
is a consultative body to NCCL’s Board of Directors
advising the Board on a myriad of issueshelping the Board to articulate the vision
of NCCL to others
Rep Council
meets twice a year:November, Thursday evening –
Saturday, usually in ChicagoSunday afternoon before the Annual
ConferenceRep Council terms are 3 years in length.

elects the at-large Board membersapproves the NCCL officer candidates
who are elected by NCCL’sProfessional and General members

Board Responsibilities
Chief governing body of NCCL Sets and monitors the mission, vision, & strategic
direction of NCCL Collaborates with the Representative Council Monitors NCCL’s financial well-being Makes all official public position statements Hires and evaluates the Executive Director.

Ex-Officio Member of Board of Directors Serves as chief executive officer of NCCL Translates policy into action Carries out duties assigned by the Board
Who serves on Rep Council?
1 DCL from each province, representing all the DCLmembers from the province
1 PCL from each province, representing all the PCLmembers from the province
1 rep from each Partner organization, each Forum, each Federation and 2 Eastern Church reps
Other reps that the Board deems necessaryMembers of the Board are ex officio members
Reps must be Professional members of NCCL

Authors and publisher members could be Professional, General, or Associate, depending on their role/responsibility and formation/education
Members of NCCL
All members may retain their membership type upon retirement from active ministry
All members may serve on committees if they meet that committee’s eligibility requirements
Professional and General members may vote in elections and on other matters, except:
Only Professional members vote on By-law changes
Only Professional members may serve on Rep Council and the Board
How do Reps fulfill their
responsibilities?
1. Represent your constituency (i.e. DCLs, PCLs, or groups/organizations you represent)
Consult your constituency before each Rep Council meeting
Email your report with their inputInclude their input in Rep Council
discussions2. Report back to your constituency after each
Rep Council meeting

3. Represent NCCL, its mission and activities to all catechetical leaders at your local, provincial, or regional level
4. Participate in every Rep Council meeting 5. Serve on an NCCL committee. Note: Per NCCL’s Bylaws, committee chairs must be Rep Council members.6. Orient new members of NCCL and Rep Council7. Notify NCCL of changes in your contact info and of
the new Rep’s contact info when your term ends
