Reading University Students’ Union (RUSU) is an independent, democratic student led organisation. It is headed up by five student officers who are elected from our students on an annual basis
RUSU is the centre of
student life on campus
We exist to campaign, represent

Through our newspaper, radio station,
website, email newsletter and face-to-face
contact, we keep everyone informed about
what’s happening
RUSU is a not-for-profit organisation and all the money spent in the Students’ Union goes back to the students

VolunteeringAt Reading we are recognised as one of the leading players on the national stage for providing and supporting volunteer opportunities. Both a vibrant campus community and strong relationships with the local community mean the Students’ Union is in a unique position to organise a huge range of opportunities from a one off
session to ongoing involvements.
We are extremely proud of our ground-breaking Modular Accreditation for Students in Volunteering scheme. Run in partnership with the University, this scheme gives volunteers
a formal accreditation on their degree transcripts.
StARs and Education RepsStudent Academic
Representatives (StARs)
are the first line of student
representation within the
University. Any student can
volunteer to become a StAR.
Most courses have at least
one representative who is
responsible for ensuring
students views are
heard by the relevant
Department or School.
Education Reps are also
fellow students and
there are generally
two Reps for each
faculty. Their role is to
ensure that feedback
and concerns from the
StARs is communicated
effectively and
powerfully at a faculty
level.
