Regardless of your past, or

past experiences, the

Grace of God can make a difference in

your life!

And with that Grace, you can have a great

marriage and a lasting love!

Naomi “Casts a Vision” for

Ruth

“Shall I seek rest for thee, that it may be

well with thee?”

The word ‘rest’ can be

translated as ‘home’

‘Home’ can be translated as

‘rest’

The two words go hand in hand!

This is a great SECURITY that

comes from marriage!

BELIEVE YOU CAN HAVE IT!

Philippians 4:13I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.

Ruth 3:2And now is not Boaz of our kindred, with whose maidens thou wast? Behold, he winnoweth barley to night in the threshingfloor.

Boaz would be winnowing barley on the threshing

floor in the evening

THE THRESHING FLOORThe threshing floor

was usually located on an elevated, exposed

site so the breeze couldhelp in the

winnowing process

THE THRESHING FLOORThe westerly winds in Israel are a lot like the

winds in southwest Florida.

They begin to blow in theafternoon, and continue

through sunset

THE THRESHING FLOORThe grain was separated from the husks by animal

drawn sledges being pulled across the grain,

which wasthen thrown in the air

with a wooden pitchfork

THE THRESHING FLOORThe breeze helped blow away the chaff, allowing the kernels of grain to drop to the threshing

floor

THE THRESHING FLOORThe men would usually

remain though the night to guard the grain remaining at the threshing floor

THE INSTRUCTIONS:Ruth 3:3-43 Wash thyself therefore, and anoint thee, and put thy raiment upon thee, and get thee down to the floor: but make not thyself known unto the man, until he shall have done eating and drinking.

THE INSTRUCTIONS:Ruth 3:3-44 And it shall be, when he lieth down, that thou shalt mark the place where he shall lie, and thou shalt go in, and uncover his feet, and lay thee down; and he will tell thee what thou shalt do.

The way you keep yourself,

and the way you present yourself,

matters!

HAVE A TEACHABLE AND WILLING SPIRIT

This is HUGE in a relationship!

The opposite is a stubborn, rebellious

spirit!

This is absolutely DESTRUCTIVE in our relationship!

Ruth 3:7-87 And when Boaz had eaten and drunk, and his heart was merry, he went to lie down at the end of the heap of corn: and she came softly, and uncovered his feet, and laid her down. 8 And it came to pass at midnight, that the man was afraid, and turned himself: and, behold, a woman lay at his feet.

BE HUMBLE AND PATIENT!

“I want a great marriage and I

want it right now!”This is arrogant

and unreasonable!

It takes work and it takes time!

Ruth 3:9And he said, Who art thou? And she answered, I am Ruth thine handmaid: spread therefore thy skirt over thine handmaid; for thou art a near kinsman.

‘Spread Your Skirt’ doesn’t mean there was a sexual encounter – THERE WASN’T! It was a cloak or blanket She was lying diagonal at his feet

She made it clear why she was there

Individual would marry a “Childless Widow”Preserve the dead husband’s nameHe had to be a “blood relative”

KINSMEN REDEEMER LAW

He must have the right of authority to redeemHe must be able to pay the priceHe must be willing to redeem

KINSMEN REDEEMER LAWAlso…

‘Spread Your Skirt’ doesn’t mean there was a sexual encounter – THERE WASN’T! It was a cloak or blanket She was lying diagonal at his feet

She made it clear why she was there

This was a custom and required protocol

BE A PERSON OF INTEGRETY AND

OF VIRTUE!Boaz & Ruth Were!

Proverbs 31:23Her husband is known in the gates, when he sitteth among the elders of the land.

Two Things About Integrity & Virtue1. DO THE RIGHT THING!

Don’t take advantage of someone… Especially the one you love!

2. DO THE BEST THING! Do whatever you can for someone… Especially the one you love!

She told Naomi all the man had done to

her!

Ruth 3:17And she said, These six measures of barley gave he me; for he said to me, Go not empty unto thy mother in law.

She told Naomi:

“He gave me 20 days

provisions”

She told Naomi:“He told me not to go home to my mother-in-

law empty handed”

Ruth 3:18Then said she, Sit still, my daughter, until thou know how the matter will fall: for the man will not be in rest, until he have finished the thing this day.
