What this graduate has to say about our program:

“I felt incredibly well-prepared, both medically and surgically, for my fellowship year. Residency at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital/Washington Hospital Center gave me excellent exposure to a vast spectrum of pathology, and I had an extremely solid skill set from which to start my retina fellowship.”

Lauren Taney, MDClass of 2013Medical Retina Fellowship from 2013-2014 at Tufts-New England Medical Center

Meet the Chiefs:

"At our residency, you will spend nearly all your time in resident run clinics.  That means no looking over someone's shoulder and no screening patients for someone else's clinic.  There are not many programs that train you to be a great all-around ophthalmologist as well as this one.  We also have a terrific surgical experience in a broad range of sub-specialties.  In most other programs, you won't be doing cutting edge things like glued IOLs, for instance."William Grover, MD

Class of 2016Graduate: Univ. of Tennessee SOMUndergraduate: Univ. of South Carolina

Page 30: Welcome to our Program MedStar Georgetown University Hospital/ MedStar Washington Hospital Center Residency Program in Ophthalmology 2015-2016

Meet the Chiefs:

"The resident-run clinic is our program's backbone. It teaches autonomy and ownership of patients, but with experienced supervision. The numerous volunteer faculty that work in the clinic provide an opportunity to learn various medical and surgical approaches to disease. That being said, the best part of our residency is the residents. The program fosters a team mentality and all of the residents help one another, always leave clinic together, and hang out after clinic."
