OUR LADY OF GRACE HIGHLAND, IN
EVERYDAY STEWARDSHIP
We Are Family
I am looking forward to an empty nest. It isn’t that I do not love
my children or that I will not miss them. I am simply looking
forward to catching up on life. I look forward to times when
there is no one else there except for my wife. It will be a time to
ourselves that I hope will be time well spent. I look forward to
the days when my children will visit (with grandchildren, I
hope!). There will be occasions we visit them as well (to see
grandchildren, I hope!). The truth is, even though we will not
be living in the same house, we will never be too far from one
another. We belong to each other no matter what. That is how it
is with family. When we become disciples of Jesus Christ, we
belong to him. We are family. Our greatest gift to give is our
very selves to one another. Jesus gave all of himself to us. Even
though he ascended to his Heavenly Father, he remains with us
in love and grace, especially in the Holy Eucharist. He has
shown us how to love and how to be family. Even when we
cannot see him, Jesus remains with us. Hopefully, we can
follow in that example and give of ourselves fully and be there
for those we love whenever they need us, especially if they
need us to watch the grandchildren. (It is a ways away, but I
want to plant the seeds now!)—Tracy Earl Welliver, MTS

Contact Dennis Churilla 708-426-6864 to join the youth group.
We had a busy couple of months planned with working
the Parish Fish Fry, hosting the Easter Egg Hunt, canning for
kids with disabilities at Strack's, and the parish beer garden
fence setup. Of course, that all has been cancelled.
I'd like to have a Zoom meeting with our group on Sunday,
May 24 in the early evening. I'll send out an invite later. I
assume lots of us have Zoom on our computers, but if not, its
free and downloads quickly. As with any of our meetings and
events, we greatly appreciate the effort our parents make to help
the kids stay connected to our group and our parish. Thanks and
please call/text with any questions 708-426-6864

Parish Life Commission 2020
Notice: From the Desk of Fr. Brian Chadwick
Bishop McClory has directed that all Masses taking place in the
month of May, starting May 11, be by invitation only, not open to
the public at large, with strict 6 feet social distancing. Only on
June 1 can Masses be truly open, provided that social distancing
norms are followed. Our Lady of Grace Church can accommodate
as a maximum number only 179 people until June 12. That number
is insufficient to cover normal weekend Mass crowds and would
lead to people being turned away if occupancy is full.
OLG Church will reopen for public Masses on the weekend
of Saturday June 13 –Sunday June 14. Due to social distancing
regulations corresponding to each stage of reopening in
Indiana, it is not feasible for us to reopen before that time. The
norms for stage four, beginning June 12, allow for 257 people as
maximum attendance for the OLG church building. That
number will accommodate our normal weekend Mass crowds
for our parish. To begin with, our Mass schedule may be
altered somewhat as we seek to become accustomed to having
public Masses again. We might begin with only three scheduled
Masses at first, for example.
I ask for your patience as we all have to wait until we can reopen
on June 13-14. As a reminder, Bishop McClory has dispensed all
of the faithful from their obligation to attend Sunday Mass until
August 15. If anyone should be concerned about coming to Mass at
this time, all of us are dispensed from the obligation until August
15.
Weekday Mass at OLG will resume on June 1, Monday
through Friday, at 8:30am, following social distance norms.
Weekday Mass will be in the church, not the chapel, until further
notice. Saturday morning weekday Mass will resume at a later date.
Fr. Brian
While the Sunday Mass will not be publicly offered during this time,

LIVE THE LITURGY - INSPIRATION FOR THE WEEK
Today marks a special day in the Church as Christ establishes the
Church’s mission and purpose and calls his disciples, then and now, to
the work of accomplishing that mission. And what ultimately is that
mission and purpose? To bring all things together in Christ. All that
ever was, is, or shall be and all times and seasons find their fulfillment
in Christ. To be in Christ is the goal of all creation. All of this begins
with baptism and the realization that Christ is present with us, risen and
glorified, always. If we approach Christ’s fullness with faith, then the
eyes of our hearts can be enlightened, and we can begin to see the great-
er truth of who we are and what creation is meant to be. Christ is really
and truly far above all things and the beginning and end of all things.
Understanding ourselves in this way really changes up the meaning of
life.
