Welcome to our Assembly on

Saint Margaret Of Scotland

Feast Day 16 November

The Scottish King, Malcolm, offered his protection to the royal family. He fell in love with Margaret and they were married in Dunfermline in 1069.

During her life Margaret was devoted to her family. She loved children and especially cared for those who were poor or orphaned.

Margaret answered God’s call to live her life in a saintly way. She dedicated her life to looking after others. During her time as Queen of Scotland, Margaret helped others by showing the gospel values of…

Commitment Courage

Friendship Forgiveness

Generosity Love

God’s Greatest Gift

Love, love, Jesus is love

God’s greatest gift is the gift of love.

All creation sings together

Praising God for love.

Blest are you, God’s children,

God’s kingdom shall be yours.

Come, sit now at the table

Of Jesus the Lord.

Blest are you, the gentle.

Great shall be your reward.

Come, sit now at the table

Of Jesus the Lord.

Blest are you, the lowly

You shall be raised on high,

Come, sit now at the table

Of Jesus the Lord.

Blest are you who hunger,

Who long to grow in God.

Come, sit now at the table

Of Jesus the Lord.

Blest on earth in heaven

Be Jesus, saving Lord,

The bread of life now broken,

The cup of life out-poured.

Margaret had a great influence on King Malcolm.

She helped him to rule Scotland as a wise and

Christian king. Every day Margaret practised the gospel values and virtues

and was a wonderful example of how to truly show

the love of Jesus to others.

Margaret loved Scotland and worked hard to bring the people closer to God. Many schools, universities, towns and churches were named after her. Saint Margaret’s Chapel in Edinburgh Castle is the most famous chapel.

Margaret died on 16 November 1093 aged just 47. She is buried at Dunfermline Abbey in Scotland.

Along with Saint Andrew, she is the patron saint of Scotland.

Margaret is also known for her good works towards children with no families.

Saint Margaret’s Adoption Society carries on the good work of Saint Margaret in trying to find homes and families for children who have none.

Assembly.

SanctusSanctus, Sanctus when we love with our hearts.

Sanctus, Sanctus when we give with our lives.

Help us all O Lord to live in your love.

Let our lives show all your ways.

In our work, in our play, when we think, when we pray, help us all to be true to your way,

Yahweh.

In our paths as we meet people on the street, let our smile light up their lives, Yahweh.

SanctusSanctus, Sanctus when we love with our hearts.Sanctus, Sanctus when we give with our lives.

Help us all O Lord to live in your love.Let our lives show all your ways.

We are called, one and all, to be gentle and kind,To be saintly and true in simple ways.

When we share, when we give,When we praise, when we live,

When we light others’ lives, we’re showing love.
