The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania ldquoStudent Assistance Programldquo (SAP) is designed to assist school personnel in identifying issues related to

severe absenteeism

significant declines in academic performance

drug and alcohol use

andor mental health concerns

that pose a barrier to a studentrsquos learning andor school success ldquo

The SAP Team does not diagnose treat or refer for treatment

The SAP Team is made up of professional school personnel who have been trained and certified in all phases of the student assistance process and is approved by the Department of Education Health and Public Welfare

Referrals may be submitted by teachers administrators parents the nurse guidance counselors or students

Hopewell Memorial Junior High will be using the OLWEUS Bullying Prevention Program again this year This research-based program has been shown to greatly reduce bullying in schools It also helps to make school a safer more positive place where students can learn OBPP is not a curriculum but a program that deals with bullying at the school-wide classroom individual and community levels

Although this program takes place at school we need your help too You can talk about bullying and our schoolrsquos anti-bullying rules at home with your child We want to work with you to prevent and stop bullying from happening in our school

Student Assistance Program

The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania ldquoStudent Assistance Programldquo (SAP) is designed to assist school personnel in identifying issues related to

severe absenteeism

significant declines in academic performance

drug and alcohol use

andor mental health concerns

that pose a barrier to a studentrsquos learning andor school success ldquo

The SAP Team does not diagnose treat or refer for treatment

The SAP Team is made up of professional school personnel who have been trained and certified in all phases of the student assistance process and is approved by the Department of Education Health and Public Welfare
