All students will be able to have an iPad during the time that they are at KO as long as their parent/guardian sign the permission slips and the students comply with the rules..
Parent/Guardian and student MUST attend the deployment meeting on:
8th grade is September 1st
7th Grade is September 2nd
6th grade is September 3rd
Getting and Staying OrganizedUse your iCal to document and keep
track of your homework, tests and projects.
Keep a well-organized notebook, folder, and back pack.
Prepare the night before.
Chunk big assignments.

You are going to have 6 or 7 different teachers.
They will have 150-200 students!

Bullying: Zero Tolerance
At K.O. Knudson Middle School, we are committed to ensuring
that all students are provided a safe and respectful learning
environment.
Therefore, bullying, cyberbullying,
harassment, and/or intimidation will not be tolerated as set forth in
Clark County Regulations 5137 and 5141.
Reporting a BullyA student who feels that he/she is a victim, should immediately report the incident to a teacher, counselor, dean, or
administrator on campus.

Mandatory Reporting
If a students reports that he/she is bullied or was the bully there will be notification to all individuals directly involved verbally and then a written letter will follow.
Parents/Guardians will be informed of the outcome within 10 days
Counselor/Administrator will follow up to ensure that the bullying ceased.
Getting Started!The First Day of School is:

School Hours:Magnet Students 6:55 a.m. – 2:05 p.m.Liberal Art Students 7:55 a.m. – 2:05 p.m.
1st Day: Students will attend an Alpha Homeroom to hand in paperwork and receive official schedule (1st DAY ONLY)
Alpha Homeroom is assigned by GRADE and LAST NAME
Cafeteria: Breakfast
Breakfast is the most IMPORTANT meal of the day!
ALL students will be able to eat
breakfast FREE FOR EVERY STUDENT.
Magnet students 6:30- 7:00
Liberal Arts 7:30-7:55
Cafeteria: Lunch3 lunch start times:
vary so please refer to the lunch sheet
Lunch - $3.25
Applications for Free & Reduced Breakfast/Lunch are available.
If possible, bring a sack lunch from home the first few days.
Vending machine items and student store snacks are available during lunch hours.
Cafeteria ProcedureStudents buying lunch: Come in, sit at
a table and wait for you zone to be called
Students who bring lunch: Come in sit at a table and enjoy!
Students may sit at any table in any zone
Zone 3 = Nut Free
Once lunch is over students will have an opportunity to go to the library or the quad.
Transportation:
Parents who drop-off and pick-up students:
Do not enter the front parking lot to drop-off students.
Please stop along the curb behind the cones in front of the school.
Do not park in the pedestrian crosswalk.
Students must walk in crosswalks.
Please observe all traffic and safety rules. The safety of ALL students
is very important to us.
NO U-TURNS IN SCHOOL ZONES (NEW LAW)
Bus Procedure
Students should have received their bus stop location and times. (See Ms. Marchon in the gym with questions)
At dismissal students will board the assigned bus route to go home. (NEW PROCEDURE)
Students will NOT board any bus and go to Valley for transfer.
Students will have only 5 minutes to board in the afternoon.

Lockers•Unfortunately, we will not have lockers this year unless it is deemed an extenuating circumstance.
•Too many are broken and unrepairable.
•See the dean’s office if there is a need.
BYOD: Bring Your Own Device
Due to the e3 Grant students are discouraged to bring their own devices this year.
Students should follow the CCSD policy for using their devices.
Students are responsible for their devices.
All classrooms will utilize the BYOD management policy in their classrooms.

Devices cannot be used during passing periods.
Confiscated items must be picked up by a parent/guardian.

Shirts must have a collar.
Solid colors! No words, pictures, studs, jewels, etc. EXCEPT the K.O. Knudson logo.
No sheer or see through/lace clothing.
Pants/shorts must fit properly (NO SAGGING).
No tears above the knee.
Blue jeans or denim in the approved colors are allowed.
Friday: K.O. T-Shirts are allowed to be worn!
THIS YEAR WE WILL ESTABLISH A COMMITTEE TO VOTE ON SSA. PLEASE SIGN UP IF YOU ARE INTERESTED.
Standard Student Attire
Sweaters and sweatshirts must be in the approved colors with or without school logo and must be worn over approved shirts.
Jackets & coats must be in a solid color and free of all words pictures, studs, jewels, etc.
Brand logos are not permitted.

Schedule changes are not done until the 2nd week of school, unless there is a major error.Schedule Change Request forms will be available in
