“To “be” catechists! Not to “work” as catechists. Catechesis is a

vocation: “being a catechist”, this is the vocation, not “working” as a

Events September 25th– 1st Class for Grades 1-5, and 9th Grade September 27th at 7:00 pm– Events Committee Meeting

at Our Lady’s October 2nd at 5:30 pm– 1st Class for 10th Grade at St.

Thomas Aquinas Hall

The ending of the Gospel this week offers us a sobering and

profound foreshadowing of the events of Christ’s life and

death. “Neither will they be persuaded if someone should rise

from the dead.” Too often we ignore the words of warning

and the signs we encounter in our day to day lives, and

instead wait on a “miraculous event” or for a solid and

tangible example of the power of God. When Jesus Christ

died and rose from the dead, many did not believe it had

actually occurred. Many doubted and refused to accept that

something so seemingly impossible had taken place. “Faith is

the revelation of things hoped for, the evidence of things not

seen.” We must believe that Christ truly rose from the dead,

just as we must also believe that He is still present in our

ordinary lives. He has risen from the dead, and we must

accept and acknowledge that this reality calls us to greater

witness and struggle in today's world. This week, let us show

all we encounter that Christ is truly alive, and that he

continues to guide all that we do. May God bless you this

week! - Brian Kirby

Fair for All Seasons The Fair Committee is seeking your help for donations to the Main Raffle, for example tickets to a sporting event (Patriots etc.) or a weekend get-away, a large flat screen TV or maybe a kindle. If anyone would like to donate something for our large

raffle please contact Fr. Carr or one of the fair committee members. Thank you so much!

Urgent Need for Altar Servers Our tradition has always been to have our young people serve

at the altar during Mass. The parish has four weekend Masses

and there should be two servers at each. So the youngsters

aren't overburdened, we should have at least 20 servers. We

only have 5 hardened veterans. With the new Religious

Education year starting, we are looking for new altar servers.

We hope parents will encourage their children to step forward

and we hope our youngsters will be willing to live their faith

through service. We're hoping for an enthusiastic response

and training will be provided!
