“I add my voice to all the voices raised in these hours to express indignant condemnation, and I

strongly reiterate that the ways of violence will never lead to genuine solutions to humanity’s problems.”

- Pope St. John Paul II

Missionary Appeal Today Today we have with us Fr. Martin Kelly from the Missionary

Society of St. James who will give us some insight into the state of the missions in South America. The Society, founded

by Cardinal Cushing in 1958, has members serving in Peru and Ecuador. Each year a few of their members come north

to spread the word about their work and to appeal for donations. Please be as generous as your means allow. For

more information on the Society of St. James visit their website at www.socstjames.com. Thank you for your support!

Note from the Pastor If you need to contact me, please feel free to send an email to [email protected] or call me at the parish office. I

cannot adequately minister to parish needs by any other means. - Father Carr

The Gospel this week brings to mind the fact that all of

humanity is in need of repentance. Christ came to save the

sinners, and to call all people to Himself. As I teach our 2nd

Graders preparing for their 1st Reconciliation, there is

nothing to be afraid of in seeking forgiveness and going to

confession! We are all imperfect people, and we all make

many mistakes during this life. What brings rejoicing and glad

tidings to those in heaven is when we admit that we need help

and need to be saved, and we come to the Church, and to a

priest who is in the image of Christ, to confess our sins and

receive absolution. If we were already perfect there would

have been no need for Christ to die on the cross for our

salvation. If we are like lost sheep that have gone astray, than

“the Lord is our shepherd, we shall not want. He makes us lie

down in green pastures, to still waters he leads us. He restores

our souls.” (Psalm 23) Let us seek this week to have the

childlike innocence of those receiving 1st Reconciliation, and

have the courage and conviction to live lives centered around

Jesus Christ. May God bless you this week!
