Diversity Week Fife 2016
MonkeyGaming is coming to Diversity Gala this year!
MonkeyGaming is an accessible gaming project run by the charity Fife Society
for the Blind. The project is designed to bring visually impaired gamers together
to discuss their gaming experiences. The project also aims to encourage more
visually impaired people to take part in accessible gaming, and to entice games
developers to make their games more playable for disabled people. In this
workshop, the MonkeyGaming project leader, Stuart Beveridge, discusses how
accessible games can be played using smart technology such as iPhones and
iPads. The discussion will focus mainly on Kid Friendly Software, who develop
audiogames, which can be played by both visually impaired and sighted people
alike.
Auction time! We are thrilled to announce our first ever Diversity Week Fife auction! The silent
auction started on Monday 29 August and will run all the way until the midnight of Saturday 10 September. The lucky winner will then be

wish to bid. And what are we bidding for? An exclusive four ball at Fairmont St
Andrews! Thank you to Fairmont St Andrews for donating such a wonderful
prize for our auction!

Inclusive CommunicationFollowing the Inclusive Communication Conference that we organised for last
year's Diversity Week, we had a lot of positive feedback from people across
Fife who found the conference helpful, informative, and inspiring. We have,
therefore, decided to develop what we started at the conference into a more in-
depth Inclusive Communication Workshop. This training is still something we
are working on, but we hope to be able to introduce it in the near future. Nina,
our Manager, is actually doing a pilot session of the training in Singapore later
this month!

Employment opportunities for Muslims in the UK - inquiry
The report highlights the economic disadvantages faced by Muslims, who
experience the highest levels of unemployment out of all religious and ethnic
groups - 12.8% compared to 5.4% for the general population. The report
concludes that the Government's commitment to tackling disadvantage for
Black and Minority Ethnic (BME) people must be coupled with a coherent cross-
Government strategy focused on specific groups, including Muslims, and
recommends that a plan should be developed by the end of this year. For
details and to read the report, click here.
