DentMAN provides a configurable management system to help capture, organise and track all your data through design and manufacture. The data can include patient details, dentist preferences and dates as well as automatically keeping all the design data along the way to manufacture. Importantly, the status of each job is tracked so that at each stage in the process through the Delcam Dental Suite you can see the jobs waiting at that stage that need attention. To avoid confusion you can also see whether a colleague is already working on a particular job.

DentMAN is a scalable solution: if your enterprise is large and requires more sophistication, Delcam also has a web-based workflow system, Delcam Dental Manager. This handles thousands of orders with a customisable workflow that can be extended to meet your specific requirements.

Having a single environment to work within makes training and working much simpler than having to pass files between different software packages. Delcam Dental Suite takes care of all this, communicating with the scanner hardware and sending the appropriate requests to load the necessary models for the job being worked on. The scan information is then stored in DentMAN’s data base and passed directly to DentCAD for the design.

Simple copings and bridges

Within minutes of importing the scanned data, your design is complete and ready for manufacture thanks to the automated tools within DentCAD. The design of copings and bridges can be a fully automatic process, although editing tools allow adjustments to be made if preferred. As with all restoration types, DentCAD automatically compensates for areas of minimum radius or sharp corners that would be impossible to manufacture using the milling process.

Anatomical copings and bridges

These restoration are anatomically reduced from the full crown to improve aesthetic characteristics and strength over simple copings and bridges.This process is also fully automatic and very precise. Preferred parameters can be stored by the Dentist or Technician to help speed up the design process without running the risk of human error. Telescopic crowns

DentCAD automatically generates primary and secondary telescopic copings for single or multiple units. The taper angle can be adjusted in the case of a complex model where room is tight or the path of insertion is inhibited.

Full crowns

Full crowns are full anatomical crown and bridges suitable for temporary restorations or direct ceramic manufacture. As with all the restoration types within DentCAD, an extensive range of adjustable parameters allowing complete flexibility to design the models based on your requirements.

Restoration typesDesigned for Dental

Delcam’s DentCAD provides a simple yet flexible set of methods for the design of a broad range of restorations. The results of all the designs include automatic adjustments to compensate for correct material thicknesses, removal of internal undercuts if required and compensation for the milling requirements. These auto features save the designer time and reduce the chances of failure in the final restoration. All the designs are built from sets of parameters that you or your customer can specify. The resulting shape can then be rapidly adjusted by making minor adjustments to these parameters or digitally sculpting to add or remove material.

Pressed (Split) crowns/ceramics

DentCAD offers the capability to design the overlying anatomical pattern and underlying pressed pattern in one operation. DentCAD compensates for undercuts intelligently adding and removing material to the inner and outer cement surfaces of the two parts. This method is often used in conjunction with a 360 degree collar.

Wax-up copings and bridges

If you prefer to adopt the traditional wax-up technique until you are fully conversant with the full 3D approach, DentCAD offers a wax-up modelling module. DentCAD will automatically merge a scan of the patient’s stump with a reference scan of the wax-up to produce a complete finished model without any user intervention.

Anatomical and reduced inlays / onlays

Using DentCAD’s libraries of teeth, you can choose the correct tooth to suit your patient and the shape is automatically morphed to match the original anatomy of the existing tooth. DentCAD also allows you to make modifications using the shaping function in areas where changes have to be made.

Customized abutments

DentCAD offers you the flexibility to create customizable abutments using a very easy and user friendly design interface. The abutment and coping can be created in one sitting without the need to re-scan the abutment. Full editing tools compliment the design process and enable the user to make changes to the anatomical shape and emergence profile etc.

Dental bars

DentCAD offers the freedom to design a wide range of dental bars to suit your patients’ requirements. The dental bar cross sections can be created to your exact measurements and options exist to either offset the bar to the gingiva, or straight line sections. The bar can also be split into segments to accommodate varying implant heights or for models with difficult paths of insertion.

Automatic prep line detection

Once the scanned model is passed into DentCAD, the preparation line is automatically detected and defined. Extensive editing tools allow you to adjust the margin line quickly and efficiently if modification is required.

Automatic insertion direction

The insertion direction is automatically generated during the initial stage of the design process; however, this can be manually adjusted within the software. A combination of error shading and warning tools, to warn the user of any undercuts that may exist in the part that deem it unsuitable for manufacturing.

Undercut shading

DentCAD uses undercut shading techniques to highlight any areas of the model that are in an undercut situation that could lead to manufacturing and fitting problems. The user can choose to automatically block out the undercuts, or ignore them if the condition is less severe.

Parametric modeling

DentCAD offers unique parametric modelling capabilities allowing you to change or modify the model during or after the design process. Design parameters, such as the cement gap thickness for example, can be changed at any stage. The whole model will update automatically to incorporate these changes without the need to re-design the part.

Wax tools and interactive editing tools

Virtual wax knife tools allow you to add and subtract material instantly. Editing tools interactively reshape the model quickly and efficiently using either the internal knowledge-based intelligence within DentCAD, or interactively by the user.

Automatic bridge connectors

DentCAD automatically adds bridge connectors to speed up the design process. The connectors can be edited providing total flexibility.

Automatic bite reduction

If a bite reference scan is included in the design, DentCAD will highlight any areas of the model that pass through the antagonist, as well as automatically reducing and cutting this back. Alternatively, the user can manipulate this in DentCAD using the shaping tools.

Automatic analysis model checking

DentCAD automatically analyses the model and lists any potential errors in the model prior to manufacture. For example, if the tooth thickness has fallen below a chosen set of minimum parameters, DentCAD warns the user. This helps to reduce the chance of failure of the restoration or breaking of tools during manufacture or after fitting to the patient.

Customizable patient / dentist details

The patient / dentist ‘details’ fields can be set up to describe any information that a laboratory requires. For example, once a dentist’s preferred parameters and material types are stored within DentCAD, DentCAD will automatically remember and re-use these preferred parameters in the design process to reduce time and eliminate human error.

Order queuing

The order management tool allows you to track the status of the orders during each stage of the scanning and design process. This gives you clear visibility to check the list of the orders awaiting attention with an up to date status of each job and a notification of who is working on which job, and a confirmation of completion.

Export option for 3D printing and rapid prototyping machines

DentCAD saves the model in a format that is suitable for manufacturing using CNC Machining Centres, laser sintering machines and 3D printing systems.

Unlike many Dental CADCAM solution providers, the Delcam solution is a completely ‘open’ system. Using industry standard data formats enables easy model sharing and connectivity with other software as well as with hardware devices such as scanners and CNC machines.

If you are needing an extensive order management system then Delcam’s Dental Manager is an enterprise workflow solution that manages the entire tracking of online orders through from designing, manufacturing and dispatch of dental restorations.

Dental Manager helps you manage all files and transactions from the initial dental scan through CAD modelling to manufacture and delivery. You can install it or Delcam can host it for you.

Your customers don’t need to install any software – you provide them with the Dental Manager web order form (URL) and they log in securely over the Internet to place orders for restorations. In doing so, they see your company logo plus any promotional material you want them to see.

The customer’s order screen allows them to identify the required restorations on a mouth graphic, select material and colour from pre-defined fields and add text to complete the order. Because this is a web-based system, you can immediately see the order and approve it.

The system automatically notifies customers when orders are received or sent out and it can be configured to give an estimate of dispatch date based on values you provide.

The modelling (CAD) and manufacturing (CAM) steps and the associated files are stored in Dental Manager. This allows you to manage all orders and see where individual tasks are in the workflow. The system shows all outstanding tasks and who they are assigned to, so that you can manage your workload.

You may also allow your customers to log in and see the status of their order as it progresses, and send some work for outside manufacture if necessary.
