• Attendance- prompt, daily attendance is crucial to success• Lab counts as a separate class
• Materials- binder, pens, pencils, colored pencils, closed-toe shoes for lab
• Absences- see me the day returning to school to show HW that was due, p/u work that was missed, find out due dates for missed work, etc.
• Homework- given most nights– Due at beginning of class on due date
• Late HW is not accepted since we generally go over it in class
– Exceptions… excused absence (due upon return) or extended time modifications (must show progress)
• Grades are earned not given– total points method
• points earned divided by possible points
• Periodic quizzes (unannounced or announced) & tests (always announced).
Labs• Submit on-time for full credit
–20% deducted per day late• No labs accepted after 4 days late
• All safety rules must be followed.–Closed-toe shoes required.
• Keep a pair in locker or in class just in case…
Placement for Sophomore Year
• Based on 300 Algebra 1 grade–To qualify for chemistry
•B- or better in 300 Algebra 1
–To qualify for earth science•No prerequisite
• Biology grade is a prerequisite for many future electives
Academic Integrity• Honesty is expected in my classroom
• Cheating, copying, plagiarizing will not be tolerated & are serious offenses.–Occasional group lab reports or projects
will be assigned, otherwise all work should be done independently
• When in doubt, ask!
