WELCOME TO 6TH GRADE SOCIAL STUDIES

How will Social Studies be taught?

• Mr. Collins, Mrs. Lilly, and Ms. Brennan will all be teaching social studies to the 6B pod. Your three teachers will be collaborating and creating some very exciting and engaging projects

throughout this year. • Most projects will be research-based and involve elements of informational writing.

• There will rarely be homework for social studies. Most homework will be for students to take home unfinished classwork.

Our curriculum will focus on understanding the world we live in by studying the important ancient civilizations from human history. Let’s take a look at what we’ll be studying!

posting important PowerPoints and handouts for you to view at home.

• HAVE AN OPEN MIND

• A lot has happened in our world’s history. Historians are still uncovering evidence that changes what we originally believed. Enjoy what is being presented to you, but always feel free to question.

6th PERIOD IS ALSO “HOME BASE.”

• All paperwork and forms will be turned in to me.

• We will sit together at assemblies.

• Whenever there is a competition between classes, we are one team.
