ASVABArmed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery Test—
ASVAB.
Not everyone that takes the ASVAB exam joins the Armed Services
Everyone that joins the Armed Services must take the ASVAB exam.
Benefits to taking the ASVAB test include:
The results can provide you with a sound exploration of your skills such as your strengths, weakness and potential
for future success
KHS will offer the exam on October 16, 2019.
For assistance with setting up an appointment with a Recruiter for the Armed Forces, see your Guidance Counselor.
PLAN A VISIT
Listen to announcements for meetings with college representatives at KHS
Sign up for these meetings in the Guidance/Counselor’s Office
Students interested in the Services Academies must keep in mind the academies deadline of September
Set up time to visit the college of your choice with your parents/ guardian.
Remember to include the Financial Aid Office in your tour
If you are using any Military benefit, contact the VA office at the college for appointment to discuss options

to our students to help you afford college.
MESSAGE FOR YOUR SENIOR
Start by visiting the Guidance/Counseling Office for
more information. Each scholarship has requirements and deadlines. Check out the
recent spreadsheet of deadlines for scholarships located in the Moneybox.
Listen to announcements—most scholarships
and copies are provided in the Moneybox to all
students.
Attend District College and Financial Aid Night. KISD
seminars tend to provide the experts to help our students
on essays, finding the right scholarships or seeking
financial aid for college. Dates and times of each event will be
announced.
Search the Web . Use websites such as mybigfuture.com,
collegeboard.org, or unigo.com. If you need a list of websites, stop by the Counseling office and check out the Moneybox
for a list.
SET a goal. Apply for one scholarship a month. Challenge Yourself!

Being prepared and ready to apply in October will give you the best results
