The rationale in the old syllabus read…the rationale in the new syllabus has some unique and new influences – UNESCO’s Pillars of Learning…

The second key influence on the new rationale was a document, “The Ideal Caribbean Person”; a document adopted by CARICOM at its 18th summit.

2. Aims The study of Physics is intended to assist
students to:• acquire technical and scientific vocabulary• develop the ability to apply an understanding
of the principles and concepts involved in Physics to situations which may not be familiar

• develop the ability to use critical thinking to solve problems
• design and perform experiments to test theories and hypotheses
