Middletown Little League Mission Statement
The objective of Middletown Little League is to provide an opportunity for all boys and girls ages 5 through 18 to participate meaningfully in the sport of baseball/softball, to learn the rules and strategies of the game, to learn sportsmanship and respect for their fellow players and coaches and to have fun.
The children of the Little League community will be exposed to the ideals of good sportsmanship, honesty, loyalty, courage, and respect for authority, so that they may be well adjusted, stronger, and happier children and will grow to be good, decent, healthy, and trustworthy citizens.
All Directors, Officers, and Members shall bear in mind that the attainment of exceptional athletic skill or the winning of games is secondary, and the molding of future citizens is of prime importance.
History of League
MYAA (Middletown Little League) was founded in 1960
Originally divided into three separate charters
April 1, 2006Bodman 4 Field Renamed To Campbell FieldBodman Park Field 4 was dedicated as Campbell Field. This was done to honor John and Nancy Campbell for their devotion to youth sports for over thirty years
Spring 2007Middletown Little League is pleased to announce the creation of the Campbell Scholarship Fund, in honor of the Campbell’s.
Each year we award two scholarships to one boy and one girl that has participated in Middletown Little League (MYAA)

Division Coordinators
This position acts as a liaison between the Managers, Coaches, Parents and the Board of Directors. He or She ensures that the Managers are aware of the Little League and local rules. The Division Coordinator also ensures that the Managers, Coaches and Parents are aware of the expectations of the Board (playing time, taking care of equipment, volunteer involvement, etc.)
The Division Coordinator will assist the Safety Officer in compiling a list of approved managers and coaches and ensuring all have proper ID’s. Finally the Coordinator will communicate to the Manager’s Coaches and Parents regarding Meeting, Training Classes, Special events etc.

Required Paperwork
Anyone interested in applying for a Manager/Coach position must:
a) Submit a Manager Application.
b) Complete the 2010 Volunteer Application and attach a copy of a valid photo ID.
c) Provide a copy of your Rutgers card. If you are not Rutgers certified contact our safety Officer Harry Kingsmore for class information.

Once you have been selected and approved as a Manager or Coach you will be issued a valid photo ID. This ID is to be worn and visible whenever you are on the field.
Both Cadet and League umpires have been instructed to check for these badges and to ensure they are validate for the current season.
Failure to wear this badge will result in your removal from the field of play.

Rules Most Often Overlooked
1. Manager or Coach must be in dugout at all times
2. Managers or Coaches cannot warm-up pitchers
3. Catchers must wear throat guard
4. No on deck batters
(No child should have bat in their hand until they’re heading to the plate).
5. Only the first and third base coaches should be on the field
6. Pitchers can only warm up down the line with spotter who must wear helmet
7. No Food or Drinks on the Field

All sponsorship are tax deductible. Sponsors receive personalized plaques each season with either the team
photo or Field banner. Acknowledgement on our website with a business link. Sponsors are always welcome to attend our league functions

Middletown Little League Parade
Everyone loves a parade…we encourage all teams to please come out and join us for our 48 th year!!! On April 10th 2010. Don’t miss out on the festivities. Help us celebrate 50 years.
All teams will assemble at the back of Fairview Elementary School on Cooper Rd at
930AM. There is no parking at Fairview School for the team members. DROP OFF ONLY. Most parents either park at Bodman Park and walk over to Fairview School or drop off their child with a parent at Fairview and park on a side street along the parade route or at Bodman Park. Teams should lineup behind the school in age order with T-Ball leading the pack and Junior/Senior League teams at the end.
Every team is encouraged to design a team banner to hold in front as they march.
Members of the Little League Board will judge banners and prizes will be awarded to the top banners in each division. Also, all participants should bring plenty of water to drink as they march. All players should be in their team uniform and sneakers.
The parade starts at 10am at the end of Statesir Place behind Fairview Elementary
School.•It will proceed down Statesir; turn left onto Navesink River Road. •Continue along Navesink River Road and turn left onto Market Street. •Proceeds to the end of Market Street and turns left onto the MYAA driveway.
Middletown Little League Parade
All teams will assemble on Campbell Field 4 outfield for the ceremonies. Please do not allow your players to play in the dirt or dig up the infield. We do have games following the ceremonies.
As each team passes the Bodman Bistro, the manager will be given 1 food ticket for each of his players and coaches. Each player, manager and coach will receive a hotdog and Pepsi. Please do not ask for more tickets than players on your team.
After the parade and opening ceremonies, please pick up any trash left on the field and everyone will be dismissed to enjoy the rest of the day and festivities. We do have games scheduled after the parade for the older divisions so stick around and watch some exciting baseball and softball.

Why do I have to pay a volunteer bond? Middletown Little League is run entirely by volunteers.
In order to maintain the necessary amount of volunteers each season a bond is required.
When can I expect my bond refund? Although every attempt is made to return bonds as
quickly as possible, realistically no one should expect a refund until August. Each volunteer must remember that the season for the Board of Directors does not end until the last game is played. Depending on the success of our program this might not be until the middle to end of August.

Who gets the email when I send it via the contact link?
Middletown Little League realizes the importance of confidentiality. The comments go in an email form to the individual selected. From there, only the board member(s) absolutely necessary to provide input or complete a request will be forwarded a copy of the email. Parents can be confident that their comments and opinions about Managers, Coaches, or any Volunteers, sent in via the email link will NOT be forwarded or shown to the people who are the subject(s) of the email. We do strongly encourage our members to contact us with their comments and concerns, so that we can continue to keep a pulse on all aspects of the league.
Why wasn’t I selected to manage a team this year? It is absolutely forbidden for the league to disclose any reason
for not selecting a candidate for a Manager’s position. This is outlined in the Little League Operating Manual. No Manager has “tenure”, or ownership of any team. Therefore, no Manager has “right of first refusal” or “dibs” on a team, nor can they “hand down a team” to a coach of their choice. These are strict guidelines that are adhered to and administered by the League.

Can I keep my child down in a lower division or bring him/her up a division a year early?
Yes, depending on the age division. Please contact the player agent for the division you would like your child play in for more information.
Can my child be placed on a team with one of their friends?
MLL allows friends to request to be placed on the same team together only in the T-ball and Rookie Divisions. In the Pioneer division, a request may be made, but there is no guarantee that it will be approved. In the Majors division, there are absolutely no requests due to the player selection process of the draft. The upper division teams are created using a balanced draft process that helps to promote even and competitive leagues.

What equipment will my child need before the first practice or game?
Players should arrive at their first practice with a glove, hat, baseball pants, and rubber molded cleats. A baseball bag is recommended to transport bats, batting gloves, water bottles, hats, and other items.
If my child decides to quit, is it possible to get a refund? A refund is available upon request prior to the close of
registration. A refund less a $25.00 admin fee is available if the request is made prior to the uniform being issued. After , NO REFUNDS are allowed.

My child has never played before. What level should he/she be placed?
It is our goal that players are drafted or placed into the appropriate division based primarily on their skill level although there are age restrictions as well. Every player that has registered will be placed on a team; there are no "cuts"!
What is inter-league play?
Little League rules allow games to be scheduled with adjoining leagues (Sandy Hook, Bayshore, etc) if this is mutually agreeable. In general, MLL will pursue inter-league play opportunities when possible in the upper divisions. At lower levels, where the number of teams is greater, we will probably not actively pursue inter-league play. The extent of inter-league play may vary from year to year.

Who umpires the games? How can I become an umpire?
In the Majors adult umpire are used behind the plate and MLL Cadets are utilized in the fieldFor Pioneer, Minors, Junior and Senior divisions the games are umpired by anyone interested that is age 13 or older, including adults. The umpires are trained prior to league play and depending on years of experience and skill are assigned to the various levels. The umpires are paid a fee for this work. Fans should not be communicating (good or bad) about umpire calls. It is the responsibility of the managers on each team to communicate with the umpires if there is an issue. At the Rookie level, coaches umpire the games. At the T Ball level, umpires are not needed since the coaches are on the field and fill in as umpires. Volunteers are a key in making this a successful program. If you are 13 or older and interested in being an umpire please contact the Chief Umpire.

What does league age mean?
All divisions are broken down by ages. Your child’s league age will always be how old he or she is on April 30th of the current baseball/softball year. This cut-off date is determined by Little League Baseball, Incorporated and we have no control over this date. If there are any questions as to a player’s league age, you may be asked to produce a birth certificate.
How come in some divisions all the players bat the entire game?
Each division has its own set of rules. The local rules are determined in order to help with the development of the player’s.
