during lunch.
Criteria: No Grades below a “C”, No Referrals, No More Than 2 Unexcused Absences, Meeting
AR Quarterly Goal.
Lightning Pride Reward
Cell Phones are NOT ALLOWED to be used on campus UNLESS it is during the EARNED Lightning Pride Cafeteria
time.
If Students are found using their cell phones during the day, cell phones will be confiscated and the student will be
able to pick up in the office after the first offense.
After the second offense, parents will need to pick up the cell phones from the office.
Cell Phones
6th Grade is known as a “transitional year”, moving from elementary to middle school.
Social Media becomes a HUGE challenge for our 6th grade behaviors. Please be aware of what your child is accessing and posting. Administration does not become involved in
problems that occur after school hours, however, if the problem carries over into the learning environment,
discipline may be warranted.
Transition Year
Agenda books will be provided to each student on the first day of school. Agendas and homework need to be checked nightly by
parents.
Agenda books are the communication tool that the teachers use to relay academic and behavioral issues to you.
ATTENDANCE IS CRITICAL! If your child has an ‘unexcused’ absence, the work he/she missed for that day remains a “0” until it is
completed and returned.
AR (Accelerated Reader) continues into middle school and is part of the ELA grade each quarter.
Important Information
Information regarding the dress code can be found in the student agendas.
Students who are found to be “out of dress code” will be sent to
administration and escorted to the clothes closet to replace inappropriate
clothing. If no clothing is found, students will have to call home for
parents to bring appropriate clothing.
More than one offense may result in an After School Detention.
Dress Code
Students who received a Level 1 or 2 on the 2019 FSA in either Reading or Math could be placed
into an academic intervention class for either Language Arts and/or Math.
•2020 iReady Diagnostic 3 Scores and teacher recommendations will also be taken into
consideration.
These classes replace Electives.

If there are any spaces available (within the Class Size Amendment), Numerical Rubrics will determine additional placement.
These are demonstrated by FSA scores, end of year i-Ready Diagnostic, grades, and teacher rubrics consisting of attendance, accelerated characteristics, and work habits.
6th Grade Offers Advanced classes in all 4 content areas.
Students receiving Advanced Math and Language Arts classes are considered to be participants in the LNS Odyssey Program.
Gifted/Magnet Services
In order to remain in the Gifted program, a student needs to continue to demonstrate a need for Gifted services and maintain a 2.5 GPA or above.
Interventions will be put in place if a student is below a 2.5 GPA and if it is determined a student no longer is exhibiting a need for services, dismissal from gifted programming will be considered.
