If you are going with us to Senior Impact, you will have a health form in your email that will need to be filled out this week. Also, your payment for Impact is due when we leave on Monday.
If you signed up for our Mission VBS, I’m glad you’re going! We’re going to have a great week working on outreach to those at Standing Stone. We will lead a VBS and it’s going to be awesome. Look for more details coming soon.
That’s all for today - have a great week! -Tucker

Discussion
Last week w
e studied Joseph as an example in the Bible of som
eone who
released the past. Spend a few m
inutes reviewing the story of Joseph's
life - childhood, his brother's feelings/treatment, his tim
e as a slave/servant and his role in Egypt.
• H
ow could (grow
n) brothers be so full of hate for Joseph? Can you
understand their feelings? What about their actions?
• W
hen the brothers faced Joseph's questioning in Egypt, their guilt quickly cam
e to mind. Read G
enesis 42:21-23. Why?
• A
fter Joseph forgave them, he sent them
to retrieve their father with
the message, "D
o not quarrel on the way." (G
enesis 45:24) Why
would he need to say this to grow
n men?
Review the lessons to learn from
Joseph:•
Choose to forgive.
M
ark 11:25•
Hold the guilty accountable; place blam
e where it belongs.

Read Genesis 48:1-11 and describe this scene. W
hat was Jacob w
anting to com
municate? W
hat was Joseph w
anting? How
would you react if
you were one of the grandsons? W
ere all expectations met?
Reflect: M
ake It Real
When are you m
ost likely to be forgiving, like Joseph?
When is it hard for you to forgive?
Are you able to focus on G
od's providence when you have been m
istreated or w
ronged? What keeps you from
seeing God at w
ork and not releasing the past - like Joseph did?
What w
ould you say is the best part of being a father?
What w
ould you say is the hardest part of being a father?
God com
mands us to honor our father and m
other. That is easily done
when there is a good, healthy relationship. G
od also comm
ands us to forgive, but that can be especially challenging w
hen family fails us. W
hat advice w
ould you give to someone w
ho has a strained relationship with
their father, mother or siblings?
God show
s us the good and the ugly in families in G
enesis. We learn
about the scheming w
ays of Jacob and the amazing grace of Joseph.
Within these fam
ilies we see the strong faith and obedience - as w
ell as failures. W
hat do you appreciate about how G
od reveals this in the Bible?
