A Note from Father Tony Dear Friends,
The long Labor Day Weekend is often called the Last Holi-
day of Summer and the First Holiday of Fall. In whatever
way you look at this coming weekend, the thoughts of many
families turn to their children returning to school. If we look
back at our school days, I am sure that we can all muse for a
while about our classmates, our teachers, other school staff
members, the good times, and perhaps the bad times that we
may have had. While each of our experiences has been dif-
ferent, I would propose that we could agree on one thing: it
was not just one teacher, or just one administrator, or one
event that made us who we are today. We give credit for
that to many people in our lives.
Saint Paul was a significant player in the early days of the
Christian Church in Greece; and he gave credit to all those
who watered the seeds of faith that he had planted. Even
more so Paul gave credit to God who caused the growth.
Paul said, “He who plants and he who waters are one, and
each will receive wages in proportion to his labor. For we
are God’s co-workers; you are God’s field, God’s building.”
Perhaps you have never thought of being compared to a
field or a building, but does it not take town and country to
make up the community? Certainly, if we were all build-
ings, from where would we receive food? If we were all
fields, what would happen to commerce and manufactur-
ing? Regardless, as Paul points out, we are all members of
the Lord’s body and co-workers with the Lord, in all of the
various activities in which we are engaged. We are the ones
who are called today to follow Jesus and assist in the mis-
sion he left to his Church. This might be considered a
daunting task, but with the grace of God, and the guidance
of the Holy Spirit we can all be up to that task. Have a
blessed week.

Labor Day weekend is a good opportunity for us to remem-
ber the wealth of Catholic teaching on concerns and issues
related to labor and justice for workers. The Catholic Labor
Network (www.catholiclabor.org) provides an excellent
collection of resources on such issues with links to docu-
ments as old as the papal encyclical of 1891 and as recent
the Labor Day statement of the United States Conference
of Catholic Bishops.

Welcome to a new year at Christ the King Catholic Com-
munity and School. We are glad that you are back and
anxious to see you active here at Christ the King.
Thank you for keeping up with you Safe Environment train-
ing; this year may be a bit different for some of you.
All trainings and retraining will be online this year using a
new video from the Diocese of Dallas. Hopefully, the fol-
lowing instructions will make this process go smoothly.

you used when you submitted your screening form.) and
the address (house number only) that you submitted on
that form, unless you have made updates to your personal
information.
The Community Center is now open for meetings and to
walk the track. The courts are not open at this time.

Safe Environment Training
Once you have successfully logged in, you will be asked to
update your information (if needed) and the system will
direct you from there.
These online courses must be watched in one sitting and the
self-assessment taken immediately after viewing the video
(it may take 60 seconds or more to load), so make sure to
leave yourself enough time for both. DO NOT exit the pro-
gram until you have received notice that you passed the self-
assessment, as you cannot go back in. Once you have received
verification of completion/credit, print off the verification cer-
tificate and file the verification away in case the system
somehow fails (it does happen occasionally).

Brothers and sisters: Owe nothing to anyone, except to love

law. The commandments, “You shall not commit adultery;

summed up in this saying, namely, “You shall love your
neighbor as yourself.” Love does no evil to the neighbor;
hence, love is the fulfillment of the law.
Gospel Acclamation God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ
and entrusting to us the message of reconciliation.

Jesus said to his disciples: “If your brother sins against you,
go and tell him his fault between you and him alone. If he
listens to you, you have won over your brother. If he does

The Preschool/Kindergarten Faith Formation at CTK in-vites all children 3, 4, and kindergartners of any age to join us to “Come to Know God” through Faith Formation For more information, contact Kate O’Connell at [email protected].
Grades 1-6 Students who attend public school AND are parishioners receive their Faith Formation through our parish program, which consists of class study and preparation for the re-ception of the sacraments. Students in Grades 1-6 attend Faith Formation Class on Monday afternoons in CTK Catholic School from 4:15pm-5:30pm. Grades 7-8 Accepting 2020-21 registration for incoming 7th/8th grade/High School Faith Formation and Confirmation prepara-tion candidates. Good News! We are open for Mass. We will be able to
accommodate up to 50 % capacity in the church, and so-
cial distancing protocols should be followed. Please leave
at least 6 feet between family units in the church pews.
Masks should be worn. We will have extra masks at the
door. Protect yourself from COVID-19. Please be
aware that all gatherings pose a risk of infection and
that all the protocols of social distancing as well as
hand sanitizing are to be followed. Masks are most
important during these days and should be worn on
parish property. All Catholics remain dispensed from
the obligation to attend Mass at this time. Please take
all the necessary steps to protect yourself and others.

The Altar Society is a group of dedicated women who serve our church and community while enriching their faith life and enjoying the fellowship of other ladies within the church. Due to current limitations, the Christ the King Altar Society has had to cancel its 2020 Bingo Luncheon scheduled for September 15th at Park City Club. ᴥᴥᴥ A HUGE heart-felt THANK YOU to all the Altar Society members that helped with our project of cleaning and sani-tizing the book holders on the back of the pews. After years of use, the original felt was worn out and needed removal. Father Tony and Father Ryan are very pleased with the cleaning and are requesting that we place a new carpet in the bottom that will mute the noise of placing books in and out of the holder. Watch for the new carpet insets in the coming months. THE ROSARY • In the Church – the Rosary is recited at 7:40am each weekday, just before the 8:00 a.m. Mass. On Saturday,
we recite the Rosary after the 8:00 a.m. Mass. Also, every Monday at 12:30 p.m. we recite the Rosary and again on Wednesday at 4:00 p.m.
• In the Stained Glass Room in the Community Center –We recite the Rosary every First Friday at 12:30pm.
• During the school year, you can join the parents in reciting the Rosary on Wednesday mornings at 8:00 a.m. virtually on Google Meet. You can dial in with no video. If interested in joining, email Amy Bowers at [email protected].
ST. VINCENT de PAUL SOCIETY - The Society of St. Vincent de Paul at Christ the King assists families with urgent needs such as
rent, utilities, food and clothing. During July, the Christ the King Conference assisted 25 families with various needs that totaled
$7846.10. If you are interested in joining our ministry at Christ the King, please call Jayne Bass at 214-526-3261. We meet every Tues-
day evening in the Community Center from 6:00 – 7:00 p.m. Currently, we are meeting via Zoom until after Sept. 7, 2020. Our work is
