Did you know that you can still order SCRIP online? During this difficult period it is sometimes hard to
pick up physical SCRIP cards. Shop with SCRIP has many ecards available. Visit shopwithscrip.com, set up an account if you haven’t already. Our enrollment code is: 8DL4E96112217. By using our enrollment code, rebates will be sent to St. Joseph Catholic Church and will be applied to the church, or equally between the church and your student’s tuition accounts. For a list of ecards please visit: https://bit.ly/eGiftCardBrands.
We always have plenty of volunteer opportunities. Right now we are especially in need of people to help clean the church once every 4-5 weeks.
If you are able to help with this, or any other volunteer opportunities, please call the parish office.
Upcoming Youth Events Jan. 30 – MS Respect Life Day Feb. 5 – HS Palentines Feb. 14 – HS RockLife Feb. 14 – Boys Open Gym (grades 8-12) MS Respect Life Day In place of 2 canceled events: middle school Friendsgiving as well as the high school Pilgrimage for Life to DC, we’re having a middle school event to respect life! Sat., Jan. 30, middle school youth are invited to come to Sts. Peter & Paul gym for a variety of activities! We’ll play fresh games, eat pizza, and make care packages for the nursing home (Transcendent
Healthcare)! Event is from 10:00am-2:00pm. Please bring any items you’d like to donate to the elderly for the care packages. Suggestions are: decorations, trinkets, candies, small Kleenex packages, cozy socks, shower items, air fresheners, etc. Due to GibCo still being in Covid RED, you need to sign up in advance. First 22 youth that RSVP with me (Bryan) have a spot (contact info listed below).
HS “Pal”entines Night Whether you have a true love or just a close “pal” this Valentine Night event is for you! Beginning at 5:30 on Friday, Feb. 5 in the gym at Sts P&P, we’ll learn more about true love and the different types of love
that all point back to our Heavenly Father (for “God is love” 1 John 4:8). We’ll have fresh games, pizza, guest speaker, and the “Newlywed” game show where we get to showcase some of our parishes’ awesome adult couples (some not-so-newlywed). Ends around 10:00. Youth need to turn in waivers by Wed. Feb. 3rd. **Stay tuned for any updates concerning Covid-19.
Any questions/concerns about youth events please contact Bryan Macke at 664-7992 or [email protected]. Diocesan Event Waivers can be found in the back of each church or on our webpage at www.smgyouth.com

St. Maria Goretti News
Dear Parishioners,
I wanted to thank all of you for the response for the CPC campaign this year. We did meet this goal at both Parishes of St. Bernard and St. Joseph. Well done to both Parishes!
St. Bernard received 72 cards back out of 136 registered families. The goal was $29,170 and $29,570 was pledged. St. Joseph received 198 cards back out of 495 registered families. The goal was $91,507 and $91,507 was pledged. Any funds collected beyond our assessed amount will be returned to the Parish to help with our regular operating expenses.
As part of the Diocese, St. Bernard and St. Joseph are able to provide benefits for our staff; otherwise we would not be able to do so. This year, the Catholic Schools Office provided countless hours of assistance to ensure that we would be able to keep both students and staff safe during the pandemic. The Catholic Schools Office will also guide us and provide a great deal of assistance as we search for a new Principal. Our Parish office is in contact with the Catholic Center on a regular basis. Their assistance allows us to complete our tasks here at the parishes in an efficient manner. Both Parishes are insured and benefit from the collective pooling of the Diocesan properties to receive the best benefit for the cost of our insurance. These are only a few of the many services that we benefit from at the local level due to the structure of the Catholic Church and being a part of a Diocese.
Particularly in this year of a pandemic, some can give and some can’t; however, we all benefit from the services the Diocese provides to us throughout the year. Some parishes can contribute, others are challenged, but we all pull together and help the Church offer its ministry to all who are in need. Thank you for your participation and support. You all make not only St. Bernard and St. Joseph amazing parishes, but your help makes our Diocese amazing as well. God Bless you.
Fr. Gary
