RCIA: FULL INITIATION

Happy Easter! Jesus is Lord and he has risen from the dead!

There’s lots of good news to spread! Easter is probably the

most joyful day of the year for me because I have been the

witness of God at work in so many lives. I have been a wit-

ness to lives converted more fully to the Lord in the Sacrament

of Confession which was more intensified during Lent. The

sinners are clean and have come back to the Lord (including

myself)! I also witnessed new people coming into the church

through the sacraments of initiation: Baptism, Confirmation,

and Eucharist.

Last night our elect, those going through RCIA became Catho-

lic in a beautiful Mass. It all began about 8:30pm in the dark

(well it was sort of dark). I blessed the pascal fire, the pascal

candle, and processed into the church while Deacon pro-

claimed Christ our light. With that the whole church became

enlightened by the light of the Pascal candle as all the other

candled received the flame. I sung the Easter Proclamation by

candlelight and then we heard the proclamation of our salva-

tion through various readings of scripture. At that the lights

came on in the church and the Elect came forward to be bap-

tized and confirmed. It was a bit messy, but it was joyful!

With the completion of the sacraments the Elect became Neo-

phytes, or new people in the church. They received their first

communion as we shared with them this gift and the blessing

kept coming in.

I want to thank all those involved in making Easter special for

the rest of us. We now embark on the rest of the journey more

committed to Christ. Those who are neophytes will continue

through a period of Mystagogy. But that can be explained lat-

er. Please pray this week that those who have come into the

church may keep the flame of faith burning brightly in their

hearts. Happy Easter!

RICA: INICIACION COMPLETA ¡Felices Pascuas! ¡Jesús es el Señor y ha resucitado de entre

los muertos! ¡Hay muchas buenas noticias para difundir! La

Pascua es probablemente el día más feliz del año para mí

porque he sido el testigo de Dios trabajando en tantas vidas.

He sido testigo de vidas convertidas más plenamente al Señor

en el Sacramento de la Confesión, que se intensificó más du-

rante la Cuaresma. ¡Los pecadores están limpios y han regresa-

do al Señor (incluyéndome a mí)! También presencié la entra-

da de nuevas personas a la iglesia a través de los sacramentos

de la iniciación: El Bautismo, la Confirmación y la Eucaristía.

Anoche, nuestros elegidos, los que pasaron por RICA se con-

virtieron en católicos en una hermosa misa. Todo comenzó

alrededor de las 8:30 pm en la oscuridad (bueno, estaba algo

oscuro). Bendecí el fuego de pascual, la vela de pascua, y pro-

cesé en la iglesia mientras Deacon proclamaba a Cristo nuestra

luz. Con eso, toda la iglesia se iluminó con la luz de la vela de

Pascual cuando todas las demás velas recibieron la llama.

Canté la proclamación de la Pascua a la luz de las velas y

luego escuchamos la proclamación de nuestra salvación a

través de varias lecturas de las Escrituras. En ese momento las

luces se encendieron en la iglesia y los elegidos se adelantaron

para ser bautizados y confirmados. Fue un poco desordenado,

pero fue alegre! Con la finalización de los sacramentos, los

elegidos se convirtieron en neófitos, o nuevas personas en la

iglesia. Ellos recibieron su primera comunión cuando compar-

timos con ellos este regalo y la bendición siguió llegando.

Quiero agradecer a todos los involucrados en hacer que la

Pascua sea especial para el resto de nosotros. Ahora nos em-

barcamos en el resto del viaje más comprometidos con Cristo.

Aquellos que son neófitos continuarán a través de un período

de Mistagogia. Pero eso se puede explicar más adelante. Por

favor oren esta semana para que aquellos que han venido a la

iglesia puedan mantener la llama de la fe brillando inten-

samente en sus corazones. ¡Felices Pascuas!

THE ARK THE ARK ... Indeed a humble building, but it has been a special place where countless wonderful and important activities for the SEAS community have taken place for over 25 years! It is hard to imagine how many parishioners have gathered inside its walls as disciples of Jesus Christ and have opened their hearts to the love of our Heavenly Father. From church administration to first communion

instruction our humble little Ark has provided the space needed to serve and grow in our faith. The Ark came to our church property as a used building from a construction site. It was offered at a very reasonable price and provided much needed office space for a young, growing parish. Parishioners with carpentry skills volun-teered to put up walls and created the spaces we have used over the years. The original goal was to keep the structure for just five years; however, the need for a fellowship area and additional classrooms in the church became a priority so the Ark turned into a long-term asset! Within the very near future we will say farewell to the Ark to make way for our new building. The Ark has served us well! We are thankful for a generous parishioner who has offered his time and effort to do the demolition and clear the site. Our excitement is skyrocketing as we prepare for groundbreaking of our new building this month! Give thanks to the Lord!

EL ARCA EL ARCA ... De hecho, es un edificio humilde, pero ha sido un lugar especial donde se han llevado a cabo innumera-bles actividades maravillosas e importantes para la comunidad de SEAS durante más de 25 años. Es difícil imaginar cuántos feligreses se han reunido dentro de sus muros como discípulos de Jesucristo y han abierto sus corazones al amor de nuestro Padre Celestial. Desde la administración de la iglesia hasta la instrucción de la primera comunión, nuestra humilde arca nos ha brindado el espacio necesario para servir y crecer en nuestra fe.

El Arca llegó a la propiedad de nuestra iglesia como un edificio usado de un sitio de construcción. Se ofreció a un pre-cio muy razonable y proporcionó un espacio de oficina muy necesario para una parroquia joven y en crecimiento. Los feligreses con habilidades de carpintería se ofrecieron como voluntarios para levantar paredes y crear los espacios que hemos usado a lo largo de los años. El objetivo original era mantener la estructura por solo cinco años; sin embargo, la necesidad de un área de becas y salones adicionales en la iglesia se convirtió en una prioridad, por lo que el Arca se convirtió en un activo a largo plazo.

En un futuro muy cercano, nos despediremos del Arca para dar paso a nuestro nuevo edificio. ¡El Arca nos ha servido muy bien! Estamos agradecidos con un feligrés generoso que ha ofrecido su tiempo y esfuerzo para hacer la demolición y limpiar el sitio. ¡Nuestra emoción se está disparando a medida que nos preparamos para la apertura de nuestro nuevo edificio este mes! ¡Den gracias al Señor!

Easter joy! Our Lenten journey with CRS Rice Bowl chal-

lenges us as we encounter our Risen Lord to bring the hope

of Resurrection to a world in need. Don’t forget to turn in

your CRS Rice Bowl at the back of the Church by May 5th.

la alegría de la Pascua! Nuestro viaje de Cuaresma con el

Plato de Arroz de CRS nos desafía cuando nos encontramos
