Effective practice – promoting spontaneous onset labour (step wedge trial, n = 2,787)

Theme 3: Prevention and Detection

In the first year: Completed 14 systematic reviews, published 37 papers and brought in

£5,347,010 in total grant income. Research highlights:

o Changing Case Order to Optimise Patterns of Performance in Screening (CO-OPS) Trial recruited 1.1million women.

o Families for Health: community-based service intervention concerned with supporting families with weight-management.

o Lighten-Up Plus to evaluate a text-based weight management programme.

Examples of impact:o A number of systematic reviews have been completed and published in

the Cochrane Reviews library and have influenced health policy. o We highlight the impact on influencing national screening

policies, particularly in demonstrating the benefits of extending the blood spot testing in neonates.
