The Amateur Trapshooting Association rules will govern this shoot and the scores will be included in the official records. Lynn Gipson, Executive Director, Amateur Trapshooting Association

Information for the Shooters

BRSP will be open for handicapping, squadding, and practice at 3:00 PM on Thursday, July 16 and at 8:30 am each day thereafter.

There will be an ATA “Big 50” event on Thursday (4:00 PM) evening for those who may wish to participate.

Board Members of the ASATA are designated as Shoot Management. The ASATA President, ASATA Vice President, Delegate & Alternate Delegate shall function as an appeal committee with the President as chair. Deci-sions of this Committee shall be final. Targets will be set a minimum of 15 minutes prior to each event. They will be set in accordance with ATA rules. The Trap Setting Committee will be comprised of those to be desig-nated by the Board along with the Delegate. No trap will be changed other than by the Committee. The President shall be the Chair of the Committee. Targets will only be reset by the Trap Setting Committee, and only if for some reason they have become illegal during or between events. Targets will not be reset to fit individual tastes or preferences.

The program will be shot over four or more traps depending on the num-ber of shooters entered. There will be at least one trap open for practice one half hour before registered shooting begins. All traps will be equipped with Pat Traps and Canterbury Voice Releases.

Depending on the number of entries, 16 Yard targets may be shot 10 per post, 50 per trap, but no more than 100 at a time.

Orange Dome targets will be used throughout the tournament.

Attendance pins & masks will be given to all competitors while supplies last.

By entering the competition every shooter agrees to accept all official decisions of shoot management and abide by the rules as established by the ATA. All shooters are strongly encouraged to know the ATA rules.

Shooters winning or tying for winner in their class will be moved to the next higher class for subsequent events.

Shooters may win only one trophy per event and must take the highest trophy. A contestant cannot win both the special category trophy and any other trophy in the same event. Special awards that are not specific tro-phies enumerated above may be exempt from this Rule.

ATA Rules Regarding Special Category Shooters

A contestant whose score qualifies them for more than one (1) trophy must notify shoot management as to which trophy he/she desires to accept or shoot for. The shooter must make his/her declaration after the scores for each event are posted and before entering in any shoot-off/carry-over.

Any shooter who is tied for event Champion may shoot-off/carry-over for the Championship trophy. If a shooter fails in the championship trophy shoot-off/carry-over and has declared a special category at the time of clas-sification, the shooter can fall back to the declared special category.

Any shooter who has declared a special category at the time of classifica-tion and whose score qualifies for any trophy in his/her declared category, will compete for the category trophy and not for place, class or yardage group.

Any special category shooter whose score does not qualify for a trophy in his/her category, may compete for place, class or yardage group trophies.

Once any declarations have been made either by a shooter or shoot man-agement, the declaration is final and cannot be changed. There shall be no exception to this rule.

Shooters must declare at the time of registration their qualification for Special Category trophies (Lady, Junior, Sub-Junior, Veteran, or Senior Vet-eran) if he/she so chooses.

Shooters are eligible for added monies upon payment of the daily and event fees.

Junior shooters who play no options throughout the program will be charged only $36 per 100 targets, for target and trophy fees.

Payout of added money will be mailed to the participant to the address on file with ATA. Added money for all handicaps will be paid out by Lewis Class with four divisions. Shooters entry makes them eligible for all added mon-ey. Added money is open to all shooters.

Purses other than Lewis Class Purses in all 16 Yard and Doubles Events will be by class. Options in which there are fewer than three entries will be re-funded. Lewis Class purses will include all shooters who enter. No additions

or withdrawals will be permitted on purses or options once the event starts unless a shooter is withdrawing from the event.

Cashiering will be by computer and all payoffs will be considered final 45

minutes after posting. Shooters are encouraged to check scores and op-tions. No changes will be made after the 45 minute posting period has lapsed.

Shoot-offs will be for trophies only. Ties on Friday will be resolved by car-ry over to Saturday & Sunday events. Saturday and Sunday shoot-offs will be held immediately following Saturday and Sunday day's events. Shooters must be present when called or forfeit the shoot-off and tro-phy.

Trophies will be sent to shooters Home Club

This is an invitational shoot and the management reserves the right to refuse any entry or disqualify anyone who interferes with or disrupts the harmony of the shoot. Management is not responsible for the loss of property.

If you are late for your squad you may not catch up on the first sub-event but may join the squad on the second sub-event and make up the first 25 (or 50 Doubles) targets on the practice trap after completing the final trap. If you are unable to join your squad by the second sub-event you must be re-squadded. Shooters who must be re-squadded due to missing their scheduled squad or those requesting re-squadding may be charged a $20.00 re-squadding fee.

Option and Added Money Payout Definitions

Percentage System

In a purse or option that is paid 50-30-20 percentage system, the top three SCORES are paid. If the top three scores are three 99s, two 98s and four 97s, the three 99s will split 50% of the purse, the two 98s will split 30% of the purse and the four 97s will split 20% of the purse.

All Payouts will be mailed to the address on file with ATA.

Fixed High Gun System

In a purse that is paid "50-30-20 Hi Gun", the top three SHOOTERS are paid. The number of payouts is fixed no matter how many shooters play the purse. Listed below are four cases for a purse paid 50-30-20 Hi Gun with the number of shooters shooting the different scores changing to show the effect on the other scores.

Lewis Purse

The Lewis Purse is based on the final scores as they are posted when the event has been completed and gives every entry an equal chance to win, no matter what his/her shooting ability. Your ATA classification has nothing to do with what group or class you are in the Lewis Purse. Your group or class is deter-mined solely by the rules below.

When the shooting has been completed, the scores are listed in numerical order from the highest to the lowest. They are then divided into as many groups as listed in the program. For example if there were 50 entries and three groups (classes) the top group would have 16 entries and the lower two groups would have 17 entries. The top score (including all ties in each group) would be the winner and would win one third of the total entry. Ties divide.

All Payouts will be mailed to the address on file with ATA.

13

Since there will often be odd numbers of entries and tie scores on the dividing line between groups, the following rules will be applied:

1. Where a short group is necessary, due to an odd number of entries, the short group(s) will head the list.

2. Where the line of division fall in a number of tie scores, the entries are assigned to the group in which the majority of the scores fall.

3. Where an equal number of tie scores appear on either side of the dividing line, entries shall be as-signed to the head of the lower group.

4. Where the original division is changed due to tie sores, the change will only apply to the groups di-rectly affected and the original division shall continue for other classes.

As an example in a 100 target event, with a Lewis Purse with four classes paid 100%. If there are 25 entries the final scores are arranged in numerical order from high to low. Lines are drawn between the three groups defined in the program. Since there are 25 entries there would be three groups of 6 en-tries and one group of 7. The short groups appear in the top. Final divisions and winners are determined per the above rules.

Rules of Trapshooting Rules & Etiquette

1. Make sure you understand where your assigned trap bank is lo-cated. Be ready when your squad is called and when it is your turn to shoot in the squad.

2. Do not raise your gun until the shooter ahead of you fires. Avoid any unnecessary movement on your post, which might distract or interfere with other shooters.

3. Remain on your post, standing facing the trap quietly, until the fifth person has fired and then move to the next post. At the end of the round, remain still on your last post facing the trap until the last person has fired the last shot. If you are leadoff do not fire until you have checked and insured that all members of the squad are on their post and ready after each change of post.

4. Never load your gun before changing positions. When going form Post 5 to Post 1, turn to the right to avoid bumping guns with the shooter coming from Post 4. When moving from Post 5 to Post 1 always walk behind the other shooters.

5. Load only one shell at a time, except in doubles. If a delay occurs, remove the shell(s) from the chamber. Close your gun only when you are on the Post and facing the trap. Close it only when you are preparing to shoot and avoid disturbing other shooters when doing so.

6. Do not allow ejected shells from your gun to hit or annoy other shooters.

7. No unnecessary talking on the firing line. When not on the firing line, keep your voice down when you are around other squads who are shooting. Remember, other shooters on the squad and on adja-cent traps deserve to shoot undisturbed. Coaching is not allowed while shooters are on the line.

8. Time your shooting to establish a rhythm in the squad. Call for your target in a clear voice; do not call in such a loud voice so as to trip the voice release on adjacent fields.

9. Above all, have fun and treat every other shooter the way you would like to be treated.
