JOIN YOUR PRAYERS WITH THE LEGION OF MARY YOUTH

The Legion of Mary Youth invite you to join them in praying the Rosary on the third Saturday of each month at 9:00 am. Each month we pray for pro-life issues, especially the unborn, and for the most vulnerable among us. Weather permitting, we gather at the Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe.

Our next gathering is planned for Saturday, January 19, 2019. Come and pray with us!

ADVENT ANGEL THANK YOU! The generous support of our faith community for the Christmas Advent Angel program is greatly appreciated. We were able to assist 30 families with gifts and gift cards, plus provide gifts and clothing for the families and children served by Casa Juan Die-go. To those who volunteered to help with the sorting, wrapping and distribution of gifts, please know how much your support is appreciated. A special thank you to Leonor Castillo, Connie Ro-driguez, Lucia Khurana, Nereida Rodriguez and other members of Faith in Action who worked together to organize the project and deliver the gifts to Casa Juan Diego.

News and Events from Young Adult and Campus Ministry World Youth Day

Come join hundreds of young adults (ages 18-39) in celebrat-ing WYD in Houston. We will celebrate at St. Jerome Catholic Church (8825 Kempwood Dr, Houston TX 77080) on Satur-day, January 26, 2019, from 1:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. Event in-cludes fellowship, multicultural music, talks, and a Vigil Mass. Cost to attend WYD-Houston is $20 per person and is present-ed in English and Spanish. Afterward, join us for a Eucharistic vigil with all-night adoration of the Blessed Sacrament from 8:00 p.m.-6:00 a.m. Come for all or part of the night. BAUTIZADOS CON EL ESPÍRITU En el Evangelio de Lucas de hoy, cuando Juan el Bautista aclara que él no es el esperado Mesías, el Cristo, él distin-gue su bautismo con agua del bautismo con el Espíritu Santo y fuego que Jesús va a ofrecer. El bautismo de Juan con agua significa la renuncia a nues-tros propios intereses y la apertura de nuestro corazón a Dios. El bautismo con fuego y Espíritu describe al poder de Dios entrando y transformando el corazón humano. Cuando Jesús fue bautizado con agua, él públicamente manifestó su compromiso total a seguir el camino de Dios para él. Cuando el Espíritu desciende sobre Jesús, él fue fortalecido para empezar su ministerio. En efecto, Jesús recibió ambos tipos de bautismo descritos por Juan. Él iría a bautizar a aquellas personas cuyo corazón estuvi-eron abiertos durante su ministerio, muerte y resurrec-ción.
