Welcome to the Lord’s day worship service at Grace Church.
We are truly blessed to be here this morning as we open God’s Word together, sing His praises,
and enjoy a time of fellowship in His presence.

I Sing the Mighty Power of God
I sing the mighty pow’r of God That made the mountains rise; That spread the flowing seas abroad, And built the lofty skies.I sing the wisdom that ordained The sun to rule the day;The moon shines full at His command And all the stars obey.
I sing the goodness of the Lord That filled the earth with food;He formed the creatures with His word, And then pronounced them good.Lord, how Thy wonders are displayed, Where’er I turn my eye:If I survey the ground I tread, Or gaze upon the sky!
There’s not a plant or flow’r below, But makes Thy glories known; And clouds arise, and tempests blow, By order from Thy throne; While all that borrows life from Thee Is ever in Thy care,And ev’rywhere that man can be, Thou, God, art present there.
Music from Gesangbuch der Herzog, Württemberg (1784); lyrics by Isaac Watts (1715)
Hymn 274 • Break Thou the Bread of Life

Guardingthe Treasure
ob, Jeremiah, and David (the psalmist) all knew that God’s Word is precious. They had
experienced the reality that it is through the Word of God that the child of God communes with the person of God. This is why the most solemn responsibility for any believer—and especially a pastor—is to uphold and defend the truthfulness of God’s Word. This was the charge the apostle Paul gave to his son in the faith, Timothy, when he wrote, “guard, through the Holy Spirit who dwells in us, the treasure which has been entrusted to you” (2 Timothy 1:14). For this reason, this year’s Shepherds’ Conference has been dedicated to defending and proclaiming the inerrant truth of God’s Word.

I have treasured the words of His mouth more than my necessary food. —Job 23:12
Your words were found and I ate them, and Your words became for me a joy and the delight of my heart. —Jeremiah 15:16
They are more desirable than gold, yes, than much fine gold. —Psalm 19:10

In just 48 hours our church will have the great privilege of encouraging and strengthening the faith of pastors and church leaders from around the world. Beginning Tuesday, March 3, more than 4,000 men will descend on our campus for several days of preaching, singing, teaching, fellowship, and refreshment. They will receive some of the best preaching in the world spread over eighteen general sessions and twelve seminars. Their passion will be invigorated by the presence of so many like-minded men committed to the gospel. Our church staff and more than 1,200 volunteers are eager and
ready to labor and strive over the next seven days to serve these men. What a joy and privilege we have to be such an influence for the church of Jesus Christ!
Due to the overwhelming response to the conference we are using every space we can to accommodate our guests, and I encourage you to take part by watching all the general sessions via livestream at shepherdsconference.org. (A complete schedule is available on the next page.)
I also encourage you to be in prayer for the conference. Pray that God’s glorious Word would go forth and reap
a fruitful reward in the hearts and lives of these men. Many are coming from very difficult ministry environments that are opposed or even hostile to faithful teaching of the Word. May God use our efforts in some small way to strengthen their faith and send them back into the ministry with renewed vigor and confidence in Him.
I pray that at the end of the week we will look back and know that every aim of our hearts and labor of our hands was done in order to please Him. May God receive the glory this week through Shepherds’ Conference 2015.
