In a large microwavable bowl, mix together ¼ cup popcorn kernels and ½ tsp canola oil. Cover bowl with a heavy microwavable plate. Microwave popcorn on High until popping slows to about 5 seconds apart, 2½ to 3 minutes. (A few kernels might remain unpopped, but cooking popcorn longer could result in some getting scorched.) Remove bowl from microwave and carefully lift off plate; popcorn will be hot. Meanwhile, in a cup, mix together 2 tsp granulated garlic, 2 tsp granulated onion, 1½ tsp poppy seeds, 1½ tsp unsalted toasted sesame seeds, and ½ tsp kosher salt. Spray popcorn with canola-oil nonstick spray; sprinkle popcorn with seasoning mix and toss to distribute seasoning.
