School Book Fair 2019
Following an amazing success over the last 2 years, we are happy to say that the Scholastic Book Fair has returned to school.
It is open in the School Hall from:
Thursday 28th February - Thursday 7th March
Opening times: 3.15pm - 4.00pm
This is a great opportunity to choose books with your child and help the school at the same time. Over the last 2 years we have raised more than
£700, to spend on books supporting the children’s learning.
Don’t forget your £1 voucher!
World Book Day - 7th March
World Book day is taking place on Thursday 7th March, and once again we are encouraging all our children to come dressed as their
favourite book character.
Children will be enjoying lots of book-based activities during the day and we have a special World Book Day
Menu for lunch. Please see the menu on the next page.
Don’t forget your World Book Day vouchers which have been sent home this week You can spend them in bookshops or
as a discount on any book you buy at our book fair.
Donations Required for Pre-School
Due to a leak in the roof of our Pre-School storage shed, we have had to throw out a number of dolls and their clothes.
We would be pleased to receive any dolls or clothes that you may have to spare.
We just ask that these are all in good, clean condition for our children to enjoy playing with.
Please ask if you are unsure if your toys are suitable, we are not looking for soft toys at this time.
Thank you!
Goodbye to Mrs Mokka who left this week to return to nursing. We wish her well for the future.
Miss Allen has moved from Pre-School to Nursery, so she will already be a familiar
face to many of our children.
We would like to say ‘hello’ to Stacey Atherton, a new member of staff, who has joined our Pre-School team. Welcome!
To receive these bulletins by email, please email your details to: [email protected]
Children’s author A M Crisan is visiting school on Monday 11th March to read her story,
“Professor Broccoli’s ABC adventure at the Zoo” with the children in Y2, Y1 and Reception.
Written in alliterative verse, this beautifully illustrated book shows
the fun a kind and colourful monster brings to the creatures he meets on a journey through the alphabet.
A M Crisan will be signing books for children during her visit.
To order a signed copy for your child, please send £9.99 cash or a
cheque (payable to A M Crisan) in a named envelope.
Every book purchased comes with a free handmade Professor Broccoli bookmark!

Hello’s and Goodbye’s
Children’s Mental Health
Following Children’s Mental Health Week, the children have learnt a new technique called ‘The Breathing Flower’
The children put their hands together as if a flower, and use this to breathe in deeply to smell the flower. They then breathe out
slowly to make the petals flutter.
Ask your child to show you their breathing flower, and practise it together. This is a great exercise to help children calm down and self-regulate.
Smoke-Free School Gates
We have some new ‘Smoke-Free’ signs that will shortly be installed at our school entrances. Your child brought home a letter about this, earlier this week.
One of the signs has been designed by Ruby from Daisy class and her class has had fun choosing how to spend the £100 prize voucher.
On Tuesday March 5th we will be delighted to welcome Councillor Bhagwant Pandher to present the signs.
The signs are to help create a ’Smoke-free School Gate’ for our children.
Why have Smoke-free School Gates?
A more pleasant environment for our young children
Support ‘No Smoking’ message
Reduce smoking related litter
Help create an environment where children see ‘No Smoking’ as the norm
Thank you for not smoking near our school.
MOMO
You may have heard your children talking about Momo. We have attached a Parent Information Sheet for more information.
